System reboots sometimes during installing programs + transfering large files

Bad HD? Bad motherboard?

I'm building a machine for a friend and during testing I seem to get these reboots...

I swapped the CD/Drive to test if it was that, and that didnt fix it
I swapped the IDE cable to see if it was that, still didnt fix it
I upped the power supply to see if it was that, still didnt fix it
I ran scandisk to fix errors, still didnt fix it

My only alternatives left to troubleshoot it is to swap the HD and see if it'll reboot during installs/file transfers or motherboard swap etc

what do you guys think it is?

Try swapping Ram, power supply, or check to make sure the processor is cooling.. overheating will make it shutoff/restart.. can disable this in BIOS

cpu runs at 50c
hd runs at 40c

i swapped power supply
didnt swap ram yet, but it seems odd that bad ram is the cause if its only rebooting on its own during file transfers and application installs
