Acer Aspire 2025 ... underatted?

I don't see why more people aren't recommending this laptop. Its thin, light, great design and look, 9700 128mb, Good battery life, 1.8 dothan, good drives and an excellent screen?

I am new to lappies so maybe someone could explain why to me.

For instance... how does it stack up to the cl56 and the mitac?

yes, you are. It's simple. It comes with a 4200rpm HDD. Any performance user can't abide that slow of a HDD. It's all ready the slowest component in the computer. Might as well get it as fast as possible. The Mitac 8050 is the better alternative because you can customize it.
Plus, the 2025 comes with two 256mb dimms not a 1 stick of 512mb which means if upgrading to 1GB, you can't use either dimm.

ya... this was THE choice for me before I found the Asus M6BNe...
basically wut tourney said were my turn offs... small hd and limited ram...
overwise, very slick and functionable

If the 2025 was about $400 cheaper, then i think alot more ppl would consider it.

As it stands, you can configure a Cl56 or Mitac 8050 that will whipe the floor with the 2025 for 2 grand.

you could always buy it if you like the looks that much, just swap out the hard drive for $135 for a faster 60gb

Does anyone know of other laptops that compare in terms of style to the aspire? How the the m6nbe compare?

IMO, the aopen 1557 with a nice paintjob compares to aspire. It uses the components. Check it out at ibuypower.com as the battalion e turbo.

Yeah - The twinheads are nice! I haven't seen any more info on those in awhile. The only place I could see to buy one was Sams club but the spec wasn't too great. Any news on these?

they did look good... but it's quite thick (1.8") cuz they made it shock and drop resistent (to some degree)

the problem is that the price is so high already that once you add a HD and ram to 1gb.. it bomces very expensive
