Hi @ll, I've just bought a Centrino notebook Samsung X15+. Its manual says "A fan inside your computer runs when needed to help eliminate heat" but its always ON.
I've installed SpeedSwitchXP and when the processor is running at 600 MHz, the fan doesn't stop while in other centrino notebook always the fan stops. Moreover, at 600 MHz, the fan expels cold air so i'm sure the system isn't overheating and the fan could be OFF.
Also, when I try to install Intel SpeedStep, the installation finish but it doesn't install anything. I've read Intel SpeedStep's FAQ and it says that a failed installation could be due to an incorrect BIOS.
BIOS date is 03/10/31, I'm sure is too old due to in www.samsung.com I've found 2 version wich dates are 04/05 and 04/06. The problem is that I've bought the notebook in Spain and in www.samsung.es there isn't any BIOS (firmware) available (or there is because some pages doesn't load). I've tried to load samsung.com BIOS but the loading program says "BIOS Part Number ID mismatched. System Part Number: 65H. File Part Number: 4DL. BIOS can not be updated. Please use proper BIOS file."
My questions are...
1. Is it possible that the fan in a centrino notebook never stops? Do you know some examples?
2. Do you think that my problem could be solved just updating the BIOS? (It stops in suspend mode)
3. Could I try some other solution? (I've updated all the drivers and setup the old BIOS).
4. Could you tell me a program that reads CPU temperature (Pentium M - Chipset 855PM)? (Hardware Sensors Monitor doesn't work with my notebook).
I chose a Pentium M due to its 0 noise level and the fan noise is very annoying. Please help!
Thanks in advance.
