recommendation on a gaming setup on a laptop..

Thread Starter
hi everyone,

I have a new laptop (see config in sig) that I use mostly for gaming. I was thinking of getting myself a larger monitor to hook up externally. Here are my thoughts

1. Isn't it awkward to use an external monitor and use the laptop keyboard while gaming? have any of you done this? what are your impressions.

2. Have you got yourself an external keyboard and mouse (perhaps wireless) that you hook to the laptop, and play games? anyone tried that?

I'm interested in knowing how different people setup their systems apart from using it in its usual style. We'll probably see some interesting variations!

A friend of mine has his notebook connected to a 19" Sony Trinitron with a USB keyboard and mouse. He likes his setup since it feels awkward using a separate mouse with notebook's keyboard.

External Mouse is the only way to go in FPS games.

I can't imagine aiming in AAO with the touchpad.

I would have the full setup for gaming, external keyboard/mouse, speakers, monitor for the best gaming, laptop just sits to the side like your desktop box would. I guess a port replicator would be best if you had a decent one.

hmmmm no the best setup would be something somebody had a picture of before, where he had his laptop hooked up to an HDTV.

I did that once. Actually got 2 quick kills in ut2004. Then my guy started making love to the wall. I couldn't get out lol.

One of my friends used to have this ibm laptop with an eraserhead pointer that he would play cs with on occasion. He would normally use the mouse, but for some reason the eraser was really sensitive in game, and if u even lightly tapped it the guy would spin incredibly fast. One time we had a dance party playing 80s music over allspeak and bunnyhopping and spinning on aztec...

Cant wait for cs2.0 on source!
