I want to see how many people would be interested in an acer only section.
hypersonic and voodoo aren't really laptop companies..

There's no choice for none?

I'm sorry if this poll is rather confusing. But basically i want to see how people would vote. Now that i think about it. I should have put clevo, compal, twinhead, mitac, and apple as choices.

we need mods, or the option to delete our own posts.

i agree

How about a Compal option? The Compal CL56 seems to be the most popular laptop here

possibly. actually that would make it really interesting.

at least just one section for each, maybe not the whole general/pics/reviews/support thing, but at least one link for each. Acer, Voodoo, FalconNW, Hypersonic, Twinhead, compal, mitac and i guess apple, although I think apple has plenty of their own forums, and any comparison to apple inevitably degenerates into how much apple sucks.

Clevo doesn't really sell as a platform by itself, so I wouldn't worry about that one.

Thanks. As long as I can find a mod to change the poll, i think i will go with coffeeshark's suggestion.

you know what would be cool? mod elections...too bad there's no real way to check for people creating accounts just to vote..

you'd have my vote turanuk.

I don't think it's necessary. Certain laptops become the flavor of the day, people get excited, a few months down no one mentions a thing about them. Look at the Toshiba forums...no one goes there. The Gateway/Emachines forum was added due to the popularity of the M505X and the 680X series. Now that it has it's own section, traffic barely moves there.

How about, if you have more than 100 posts, you can vote? They'd have to be manual votes, but that could work.

Those of us who have been around for a while should have more than 100 votes. Before I was active in this forum, I was active in the Alienware forums, when I was considering the uber-fast but uber-expensive Area-51m. That's where I got most of my ~500 posts.

i would suggest anyone over 1000 posts would get an invitation to mod, or at least those very active on the forums who have something decent to say.

haha thanks...i'd vote for rince

i like the idea of >100 posts then you can vote, prevents account creation just to vote...but i'm not sure how you would implement that programmatically.

BTW, I'm now convinced that turanuk does nothing but wait in these forums waiting for somebody to post, to which he immediately replies. He'd make the perfect mod

i still think i'm going to get interesting results though. so i am just going to wait and see.

I agree that some of the sections are pretty dead. Pare those down to just single subject areas, so you have the big Sager section, maybe a good sized AW and Dell sections, and the rest just have a single area to post in unless traffic demands that they increase.

"Other System Discussions" is just getting way too much traffic to be navigable on it's own.
