in fact...if you don't have finerprints (don't ask)

you can use your damn eye! I bet this would be a really time saver for Columbo, just pop out his eye, put it up to the cam, and boom full access.
Yeah it isn't that the tech isnt out there it's just rather expensive(unless you use a usb solution) and still possible to be foiled

I bet the biggest problem is accuracy. What happens if you have a cut on the finger you scan? Or what happens when the skin on your finger peels a bit? You'll be locking yourself out of your own computer.

Iris scanners would probably work much better, but for some reason, it's just not widely adopted. I bet people just aren't keen on staring at a camera from a few seconds so that it can take a picture of your eye.

DAMN that's expensive! ~$400 for a camera?! That's essentially what an iris scanner is, a small, compact, low focal distance camera with some fancy software attached. You stare into the camera for a second, it takes a pictures, lays out your iris pattern over one on file, and it authenticates. Why the hell is it so damn expensive????

actually they still work, I went to the DMV one day with a fat cut down my entire thumb (cats suck) and the fingerprint still read my finger, also I believe the retina scanners will still read your eye even if you have a cornea abraison. that is if oyu can keep your eye open, DAMN THOSE ARE THE MOST ANNOYING THINGS IN THE WORLD cornea abraisons = suck

procrasrination is kinda like masterbation, aside from the likeness in name

symetrics, whom i believe make the software that controls our beloved lappy fingerpad, also make a biometric solution to our fingerprint debacle. problem is i cannot seem to locate a price nor a reseller from their website. go figure.

they allow multiple fingers to be registered for recognition, in the oft chance of one being decapitated or cut....

I guess you have not looked at the rest of the posts. They do not offer a scanner for it. They planned to, yet nothing has ever happened.
