2. I wanted a reliable company, and i'm familiar with asus.
3. 64 megs of vram are not going to affect gaming that much, and I wont be doing much gaming on it anyway. My year old desktop still murders any laptop in gaming because no notebook vpu is as powerful as the radeon 9700 pro still. And if you get a top of the line gaming notebook today you'll be out 3000 or more dollars with a very high degree of difficulty to upgrade, unlike desktops.
4. Looks goddamn nice.
5. 3 year warranty.
6. Looks very nice (justin at proportable sent me some nice shots of it)
7. Sound quality is not bad supposedly, and I like widescreen displays. I like using notebooks as mobile multi media centers.
My second and/or third choices were the mitac 8050 or the w1. The w1 just seemed so novel i wanted it at first but i convinced myself to resist. SPecs are a bit low afterall. The mitac 8050 looks nice but I'm just afraid of how much support it'll get in the future, and the battery life seems lower than the Asus.
