sigh... i guess i'll respond to the latest flame at little bit, because it contains some valid points:

I said that the Athlon64 would outperform the 1.7GHz Dothan, however, they could be close in performance.tourney's own words, which he vehemently supports (clearly): "athlon64 will be the obvious victor. a 1.7Dothan can't compare. To me, it's obvious that the athlon64 is the way for u to go." since abf is trying to decide between the uniwill, which has a 3000+ processor, and a cl56, which he can configure with a dothan 1.7 ghz, you were espousing the 3000+ over the 1.7 ghz as the "obvious victor," or "significantly better," as you recently put it. i think from abf's perspective, this might not be true-- he won't see much of a performance difference in real life circumstances.
And don't you forget that he said he could definitely manage without internal wifi.yes, he can manage, but he already said many times that it would be nice to have it. and if the performance difference between the two chips is very minimal from abf's perspective, why can he not enjoy this advantage?
ABF wants his laptop to last 4 years and be able to use 64 bit applications, thus the athlon64 system was the obvious choice for him. Personally, I'd pick the CL56 because of the immediate advantages (battery, wifi, small profile) but abf had different needs.his first post on this thread said he was considering these advantages more strongly now over the relative strength of an outdated 64bit proc in 4 years, when 64bit surely will have taken hold. he has now read the comments of many other knowledgable posters that have told him 64bit optimizations won't be mainstream or even very effective for years to come. also, the a64 system has these other disadvantages: abf: "the reviews on the G3 and latest A51m aren't so upbeat (frequent UNCOMFORTABLE temperatures and OVERHEATING)." we know the cl56 is a system that runs cool, so why wouldn't this be a better system for abf's personal preferences?
please refrain from flaming, and calling people names. let the information speak for itself, as you can see it does a fine job of allowing people to make their own decisions. if i were you i would be very embarassed right now, because your posts are clearly only intended to persuade someone to your point of view, rather than letting them make an objective decision for themselves.
i'm going to try not to respond any more to your acerbic, argumentative comments, because they don't help anyone. all you want to do is "win" and as you stated earlier, "ride out on your high horse." this isn't a competition, it's just an objective exchange of information. no one has the right to make a decision for anyone else.

the only reason i didn't respond is because all you want to do is call people names and "win." if you look at my posts, i never set out to call you an "ass" or discredit you in any way, only to present information. my information presented shows that i don't agree with you, but i don't need to rub it in your face like you apparently do to me. the information shows that yours might not be "the correct recommendation," it's up to abf to decide which system is right for him. just let him make his own decision, thank you
