LG notebooks? Small, long battery life.

These seem pretty good, don't they?

One of them (LM40) can go up to 1.7ghz centrino.. and last 10 hours on a single 9 cell battery.

Video card is lacking though. The best one only has an optino for a radeon 9600 64 MB, is that really bad?

All are around 2.6mm (about one inch) thick, and weights only 2.4kg.

The processor looks like a banias though, doesn't it?

What else should I look out for before I buy this instead of my (out of stock) ferrari?

It looks really nice . It would be one of the top ones on my list if it was available in the US. Post a review if you get it!

the problem is the HD is incredibly slow.. well same as ferarri 4200 rpms i believe.. someone said 5400rpm but i doubt it
and the video card sortof sucks...

Definitely a nice laptop. I like how the 3 year warranty is standard.

The 9600 might be a good trade for the extra long battery life. 6.5 hours with a 6 cell battery is pretty damn good.

specs say "Wide View Angle LCD"... they use something different than most other 15.1 inchers?

I don't think I'll need such a long battery life anyways.

Oh, and would the processors that AMD release in the future (with the same socket) increase the battery life, were I to upgrade in the future (3 years from now perhaps)?

I plan on using this laptop for at least a few years, would it be a safer bet with the athlon64?

Could be. LG is a HUGE lcd manufacturer. Quite a few of hte brands we see in the states are a rebadge of one form of LG or another.

uhh how would that even be possible with the lg?

Also.. anyone know where the 9-cell battery can be found (and hopefully you can buy it without the 6)

either way you can't swap a cpu that uses different voltage i'm pretty sure

Sure you can, as long as the chipset and motherobard supports it. The same way you can put a processor in a socket and the PC already knows what FSB and multiplier to use for it.

hmm are you sure? ever seen a motherboard go from a normal cpu to a LV or ELV?
