Network connections

Did any of you ever experienced a problem with new connection, in the New Connection Wizard the "Connect using a dial-up modem" option is not available (appears dimmed).
Since I donot have a recovery CD yet I am not able to do reinstall.
Please submit your solutions.

This is an Area51m used machine that we are talking about?
