search this site... a lot of info is already on this site about the +/- of firewire and USB 2.0.

maybe someone else would like to go over the info? As a recap?

usb2.0 or firewire

basically rigth now:

USB2.0: it can trasfer up to 480 Mbps
FireWiere: it can trasfer up to 400Mbps

but the technology and the standard say Firewiere soon will fire out FIREWIRE at 800Mbps

So, i would buy a hd with both connections and see by myself which one run faster?? and wht depends of the speed (larger files vs. smaller)???

I like USB. It is more widely used less of an overall hassle.

I too went with a usb external. It works great and is very fast.

i dont know about the usb2.0 but i know that firewire runs without having to have any drivers at all. you just plug your firewire component in and play. i have a firewire camcorder and a dvd burner. a good company that is decent price that ive had reel good luck with for firewire components is

caloptics.com

they also have usb2.0 and all that stuff
