Is there any FREE dial up ISPs anymore?

anyone???

AFAIK, no. They all died out; the advertising they used didn't pay the bills, and there was too much competition from cheap dialup ISPs.

If you're looking for affordable dialup, there are several low-cost solutions like NetZero, that provide unlimited dialup for 10$/mth: http://netzero.net

Another 10$ one is EV1, which, yes, they are related to EV1Servers, formerly RackShack:

http://www.ev1.net

I'd trust EV1 more of the two, just because I know EV1Servers is very popular. Also EV1 gives you 300MB of webspace with unlimited transfer, and that webspace is sitting on serious bandwidth; I've hit 3mbit downloading from some EV1 people's webspace.

If you're a student or know a student, check with the University you or your friend attend(s). Many universities provide free dial-up for people living off campus.

no i don't think there are free 56k dial-up providers because demand in north america is currently zero.

omdl thats beautiful. Ive got 1.5 down, friggin 160 up for $26.95. I really don't care about the download, but the upload is so damn slow. Oh well, at least its broadband

Well, here in San Diego it's bassically a monopoly, you have 2 cable providers (cox and roadrunner) and anywhere there is cox, there is not roadrunner, visa versa. And of the DSL providers i haven't heard much feedback other than they aren't to good. For the 4 places i've lived in San Diego i've been to far from the CO to have any sort of increase over cable, so i've stuck with cox. And of the roughly 10+ places i've been on Cox in San Diego (lived at, LAN'ed), download/upload/pings have been IDENTICAL. At least you guys are seeing some compitition.

get AOL or MSN trial.

call at the end of every month and threaten to cancel.

free dialup for as long as you want.

http://thelist.com/ has reviews of all the cheap dial-up isp's.

http://www.broadbandreports.com/ has reviews of all the high speed isp's.

I've used http://access4less.net/ in the past, its $5.95 a month.

You can get cheaper but they really start to limit useage.

This actually works too. I know somebody who has been doing this for the last 2 years, with AOL.

Problem is AOL is slow and crap.

Not at all... He really DID want to cancel his AOL, but they kept offering him more free time.

Eventually he told them, no, I don't want the free time, and got a cheap 20hr/mth plan from somebody else, after 2 years free with AOL.

Can't blame HIM for what AOL does!

I see. You had said he called for 2 years threatening to cancel, not trying to cancel.

that is true about aol, my grandma gets free monthes of aol all the time that way. the only ways i know to get free dial up nowadays is from your college/business, or some towns actually just have local free dial up, like some nicer places out here in long island. not where i live god no.
