Thats because I owned an Alienware and sold the damn thing, cause I thought the XPS was better. Why are you guys still bringing up this argument about making post bashing Alienware. I'm only talking about viewing it. You have a problem comprehending that. I still visit the "Official" forums with my account from time to time.

you should really talk to that guy that got his used system without the login seems he ought to be on those forums not you... and I just spent $4000 on this toppie so I want the real issues exposed not fake ones... maybe you don't screw up the posts but the XPS people and the maccies seem to cause a mayhem... and if you do have a login why the heck are you questioning the Alienware policy? its the guy that you sold your lappie to that ought to feel cheated not by AW but by you, if you didn't provide him with the ID... BTW I was considering the XPS probably like everyone else in this forum and to tell you the truth at the time I ordered Dell configuration was nearly the same price yet it had none of the benefits plus that computer, even with the snap on covers, looks cheap and at my setup that Dell advantage seen in benchmarks dosen't hold ground n did I mention upgradable graphics..........
Please just give up and leave these forums you my friend are a quitter and no longer of any benefit to the community go to the Dell forum like all other lamers and stop taking up our thread... PS CRAIG WHY ARE THE DELL PEOPLE ALLOWED TO POST HERE? they never have nothing valueable to say and just get everybody worked up over nothing... If I popped into the Dell forum asking why they don't get upgradable graphics Id start a war but Im not so nonAW please don't come starting s**t when it simply does not concern you.

You know, I've never once got rude with you. I can post wherever the hell I want. And the guy I sold the laptop to lives a few miles a way from me and he can log in anytime he wishes. I'm making a comment on a topic someone else brought up. Lets not even talk about upgradeable graphis because no one knows whether Alienware or Dell will be able to come through. If you can't take negative comments don't view them. Everything isn't perfect with every company. Get over it. You think your apart of some elite group because you spent a little extra on a notebook? And from the looks of it you don't own one either, it's going throught the phases now, so your knowledge is limited at best.

yo resovia turn that red off it hurts my eyes, anyways dell sucks and alienware sucks are pricing just build your self one it doesnt even take 30 days to make one it takes alienware and dell but no yourself. Also you choose what you want so its all kool.

There is much to be learned from many people here. CGPD is a wealth of knowledge as he has had both the A51m and the XPS...he's welcome here anytime he feels like it.

Remember, the purpose of these forums is not to defend your purchase until the death, it is to learn about your own machine and share that information with other would-be buyers so that they can make the most educated decision in their purchase.

2pac...where can I get parts to build my own laptop? I'd love to try it once...

RESOLVIA,

Can you please turn off the red? Trust us......your not that special. For a new guy that is not a AW owner....yet. You seem really opinionated. You'll make alot more friends if you slow down.

My take on the original posters question.

What you are questioning is AW's policy. Why come here and whine? Have you asked AW yet? It would appear that a question of that type would need to come from the preverbial horses mouth.

I recently sold a very new AW laptop. Long story. However, I still own another. Its really up to the seller if he wants to give the buyer the login info. Personally, I'm not giving my login ID up. I'm keeping some things for the $$ I lost. It is my choice, after all.

The above is my opinion and should be taken as such.

I didn't have the patience to read all of the posts, so I'm just gonna say it. Alienware specifically says in it's agreements that you WILL NOT resell the computers. By doing it, you're breaking the agreement and thereby removing their requirement to support it.

AOL was kind of a diss lol... but i wasnt dissing Dell, i think you should go for Dell, cause AW doesnt seem to be changing their ways, and for what your going to do (Sell and keep updated) Dell might be better for that. Either way i hope it all works out for you.

Some companies expand their service dept., some companies ignore it and just let people talk, and some companies make usernames and passwords so that new customers can't hear the complaints before they buy their new $4,000 laptop. I think I've hit the nail on the head with the last statement...Well- until that day the box arrives- we all know the feeling- even if it is a dell- Thanks guys and laters...
What Flapjacks mentioned about the Forums being closed to the public is right. There were too many issues arrising from random people posting.

It was decided that having the forum just for customers would help us better serve them.

Warranties are not transferable for a good reason.

When you purchase a system from eBay, which states that it is an Alienware, many times you will get a system which is not an Alienware or just a barebones system. Many people will call Alienware and complain about this, but Alienware is not responsible for this.

As many users of these forums will tell you, many of the Alienware systems found on eBay are just scams.

What's wrong with Dell? I've got 7 of them....as for aol, well, I've been with em for years...
I really do not understand why you say "poor product service."

Many users here know that Alienware is geared towards Customer Satisfaction. There will be times when issues arise, but we are here to help and provide the customers with the best service possible.

Do not hesitate to give us a call or e-mail us. We are also here in these forums to help current customers and those who are considering buying a system from Alienware.

1st The driver side of the story http://support.alienware.co.uk/Suppo...ers_links.aspx

2nd Ive been a fan of AW for years now its just the ownership thats been a problem cuz my mom and sis decided to go computer shopping and shelled out 3.5 on a Gateway system from thell that sucked major _ _ _ _ so now that I have one in the works I don't want people to make me regret my purchase over issues that dont exist, if its not helpful to anyone just like the post about bad service if you gave it up (just been proven wrong bout that in #1 cuz they is giving you the drivers and you is able to get help here... sorry just getting down to some peoples IQ level there) than it is of 0 benefit to anyone...

3rd Not once in my life did I hear of a computer company transfering their warranties from user to user unless they just use the same serial number on the PC but than again AW cares about the individual user not the machine itself just a lil personal touch that does feel nice... EULA was mentioned (thanx JuanG) You ever look at the lifetime guarantees by any chance, great deal and right up front it says for the life of the ORIGINAL OWNER <case closed> ... don't like it well than give up your ID# that you won't be using and start a new one when you order again...

4th THIS AINT GERMANY IN THE MID 40's IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE RED, DON'T READ MY POSTS SEE IF I CARE OR NOTICE YOUR ABSENCE... I think thats pretty fair its not like Im screaming into your ear or anything now is it??? just a lil scroll past my post.... besides occasional red never hurt no one and these posts get mighty monotonic when you read them for a week nearly non-stop (PS I'm well aware Ive only been posting for cpl days but Ive been reading for much longer than that) go figure, you spend so much money so that your computers are colored/personalized and than everyone uses the same exact font and color onlie However if this is the view of the whole forum than I will stop posting .

Now I finally see that we're dealing with a little boy here. If Alienware feels that way about transfer of ownership, that's fine, buyers knew this from the start. Lets stop beating a dead horse on this issue. There are companies that do allow it. My Dell XPS includes a card that does this for you. In defense of Alienware, I've never seen a fake Dell for sale on ebay. You are still wrong with your driver issue. Maybe once you get an Alienware you would realize that. Notebooks are a little different then desktops when it comes to driver. You can't use the same drivers as off the shelf products. For example, the ATI link will not give you mobile drivers, (Iomegas are better anyway). The only sound drivers are Creative Labs, which the Alienware doesn't use, (You would know this if you actually owned one). Nor is the media card reader, or the touchpad drivers.

Juan,

I think what a lot of people are referring to is the lackluster first tier support offered by the CSRs. Nothing personal, but I do have to agree that it is rather hit or miss. All too often the first line of tech support are only able to offer the advice of reloading the drivers or updating the BIOS.

If your system is overheating (a recent complaint of mine which will require a depot return) and your LCD is showing classic signs of a defective capacitor, then updating the BIOS will NOT have any affect.

Do this stuff enough, and the reputation sticks... sorry, but there is no way around it. There was a great and honest thread about this kind thing back in November, both good and bad points about the technical support were brought to light in addition to some recommendations from people on this board who have a bit of experience in the field.

First of all you call me a lil boy one more time and youre getting b***h slapped ... Stop whining over something that dosen't concern you. These computers are sold to the end user says so in the deal and the company has good reasons for it... if you didn't like it that much you should have returned it and not sold it to someone else violating the end user agreement... and this just shows you how much research you did if you came to that conclusion after you bought and sold the system... If you read these forums as much as you making yourself look you do youd be able to ases what kinda s**t your getting into... Im proud to have made my choice despite the unfavorable feedback here and if I get burned on it Ill come here FOR HELP and not to diss the company... Youre just making an a** of yourself right now, next time read the fine print its there for a reason.

Resovia I don't recall me be the originator of this post. I just thought I'd chime in with my opinions and experience, (This is still America, correct?). Far as you b***h, slapping me, i'm not gonna entertain that comment.

Resovia

4 words my man: Red, Stop, Now, Please

It's too hard to read for most people (believe it or not red-green colorblindness is the most common form and red is on that tricky part of the spectrum that is nearing the point where many people cannot visibly see it).

If you want to pull the whole Germany in the 40s bit I have two things to tell you: 1) That stuff began in the 30s, not 40s (sorry, had to correct the historical innaccuracy), and 2) People are complaining because they can't properly read what you are trying to say, and some of us would like to be able to... it's not a personal attack, so don't view it as such.
