Hypersonic CX5 vs. The World

Thread Starter
Just want to get your opinions on ordering a Compal from Hypersonic compared to other places, like powernotebooks.com Hypersonic does offer Artic Silver, and a perfect pixel warrenty, but is the extra money really worth it? Powernotebooks does have a better reputation than hypersonic, but I'm not sure I like the looks of there warrenty as much.
Where do you all think I should buy from?

Read their respective warranty pages carefully. You'll see that HS has the most generous policies out there.

I've taken the time to configure the same system with both companies.

There was a 150$ price difference while Powernotebooks additionally gives you free case
(using 1.7 Dorthan, ATI9700, 2x512 RAM, 60GB/7.200RPM, 4x+/- DVD, Intel 2200, XP Pro, 3 year warranty)

It's simply a personal choice. HS offers a very attractive guarantee package, and extra system care (Arctic Silver) as well as the option for a perfect pixel guarantee. Powernotebooks cut those extras and thus can offer the rig for a smaller price.

I for one couln't live with a dead pixel.

hey Lazarus, wut did you clock your ati 9600pt to? mine is at 337/231 (i think) right now, and ive heard people go as high as 400/300

Here are the 2003 Benchmarks of my little 9600 Pro (overclocked with the AlienAdrenaline-Powerstrip):

Performance Configuration (untweaked): 2600
Tweaked Configuration (220/385): 2834
Highly Tweaked Configuration (234/410): 3017
Ultimate Tweaked Configuration (250/440): 3227

The higher you go, the more you have to make sure that the fans aren't blocked.
No artefacts even with the ultimate setting. But I've never seen someone overclocking his VRAM to 300 MHz.

im assuming this is (ram/core)?

im not sure what your benchmark scores your using, but do you have any aquamark scores?

Also, what are your gpu temps, idle and ingame? did you do any cooling mods? The person who overclocked to (core/ram) (400/300) did a cooling mod, as did i. The inspiron 8600 has HORRIBLE stock cooling. We basically replaced the thermal pad with a piece of copper plate, and threw some arctic silver 5 in there.

3DMark2003 - sorry no Aquamark Benchmarks

For the rest. Never had exact temp values. Just try and error. I've played Sacred, CoD and several other FPS with the Ultimate setting for several hours. No problems when I had my rig on a solid surface. No cooling mods (AW does an wonderful job with their rigs), but I'm always willing to try *s* Maybe there can be a ****ing tweaked config.
