Help! Installing Intel 2200 wireless in Mitac 8050

So I get my brand new Mitac 8050 today and I'm all excited. I install the hd w/o any problems (rjtech included screws for me to use-good thinking), then I get to the wireless card. I plug it into its little niche just fine, but there are also two tiny cables, a black one and a gray one. what do I do with these? which one goes where?

Thanks in advance!

Now I know I'm being nitpicky, I noticed that the right-side speaker crackles when it plays. Any fix for this other than sending it back to rjtech for a new machine?

Have you installed the audio drivers on the CD? Do you still have the problems?

I just used the realtec drivers from the cd that rjtech provided w/ the notebook. Are there better drivers out there? I suspect it's a hardware problem though...

gary,

the wires are the antenna for the wireless card, there's one for the main and one for the auxiliary, it really doesn't matter which you hook up to which. They should just snap into the 2 connectors on the card (small round snaps).
Just go with the longer wire into the farthest clip.

i saying this from memory on your wireless lan card two cinnector pins main and auxillary when you put the card in to the 8050 which ever cable stretches over to the main connector is the one for it i am nearly positive it is the grey one and the same goes for the auxillary connector with the black cable. i will have my 8050 2mrw so i will post again when i get it.

Got it installed. Thanks coffeeshark and shanew. It works fine, but my friends router (which I was testing the card with) died...but I did manage to download omega drivers and dx9 first.

Hi garygchouvln! I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but, being an audiophile, I can tell you that 99.99% of the time a crackling speaker is a hardware problem. IF you have the ability in your system or program to swap left and right, or play mono, you would know for sure. My moneys' on a cracked speaker diaphragm or broken voice coil.

I have the same crackle in my right speaker. I think it's the drivers.

tourney-- seems odd that we would have the exact same problem...and you're sure it's the drivers. Do any the other mitac owners w/ the same drivers have the same crackling noise from the right speaker?

Install these drivers: ftp://152.104.125.40/pc/ac97/alc650/wdm_a359.exe
I just did and my speakers have improved significantly. Hope it helps you too!

thx tourney--I'll try them
mitac owners-- how do I know if the wireless card is on/off? (I'm still stuck in the world of dialup, so I know absolutely nothing about wifi)

Never mind about the wireless on/off question...I just now noticed the indicator led..

so...how the drivers working for you?

does it REALLY matter which wire goes where? i have an asus and the wires are of equal length, they come in from the top of the card not the side, if there is both MAIN and AUX shouldn't the wires be designed for 1 and not the other cuz if it didn't matter the label would be the same like ANT and ANT and the wire colors would be the same, or am i not makeing sense?

tourney-- the drivers didn't work. it was the socalled subwoofer that was crackling. But no big deal, if i go to the equalizer and turn down the midrange, it helps. Overall sound quality is pretty good.

Pr50wner--i have the same issue, but i followed shanew's instructions and everything works, so I'm a happy man.
