Same Asus M6Ne and Comapl CL56

Hmm assuming everything was the same custom specs (SVGA, 735, gb, 7k60 etc. etc.) and price. Is tehre any difference between the two?

I think the asus only offers the m11 in 64meg, while the cl56 has the 128meg m11.

Other than that, I like the looks of the asus more, and I've heard it gets better battery life, but because of the smaller 3d card, if ur goin for gaming, I would say go cl56 or aopen 1557. I really like the 1557, but it just isnt sold at very many places. ibuypower is really the only option with a good price. ABS is actually alot more expensive.

In addition to better battery life, and slicker looks, the M6N series has the following:
- hot swappable 2nd battery (cl56 has it also, but not released yet)
- gigabit lan support
- Audio DJ buttons (lets u play music with the machine powered OFF)
- 4 usb vs 3 on cl56 (probably not even gonna use all 4 at once tho)

Dunno wut the CL56 has that M6N doesn't... except the vid card... and i think CL56 lets u do main battery warm swap (3 min buffer), can't be sure tho

Edit: another obvious one... CL56 is a bit thinner and thus lighter than the M6N

I don't own either of these, but the CL56 has better looks, IMO. And the lack of those Audio DJ buttons is a plus for the CL56, not a minus.

wtf... who said anything about plus/minus?
question asked was: "is there any difference between the two?"
i think it was kind of implied for the audio DJ thing
post #7 of 38

Oops, I'm sorry about that, I misunderstood what you were posting. I read it as you were listing things better about the Asus, instead of different.

I thought officially the M6N is lighter by quite a bit (with its mainly carbon fiber body, compared to the plastic and metal of the CL56)

heh... guess my avatar does give away some bias... but ya... very similar machines... main factor in decision probably comes down to personal preference or cost or reseller

hm... the specs seem to indicate this also... m6n = 5.7lbs w/ modular bay filler and cl56 = 6.2lbs

anyone with either/or both of these machines care to weigh for us?
I've only played w/ the M6N widescreen w/ everything in it... and its heavier than the CL56 w/ everything in it

(i.e. none of that empty CDROM modular bay BS... the CL56 was close to 6.5lbs, and the M6N Widescreen felt closer to 7lbs)

In terms of diffs, I know similiar price was mentioned, but the cl56 is generally at least a lil cheaper at similiar configs.
yep... around $100-$200 difference i believe

airwick-- the three reasons i go for the cl56 rather than m6n: 1) m11/128mb vs. m10/64mb 2) placement of Ctrl key 3) i can get cl56 for cheaper.

asus has the m11 not the m10

Well, he did say the M6N, which does have the M10. The M6Ne has the M11, but it's still only 64MB.
