ACER display

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of getting the ACER Aspire 2025 but am unimpressed with the dead pixel policy to say the least. I'd like to know how many owners have systems with dead pixels and how many don't. Also, what is the consensus of the display quality versus other 15.4" widescreens? Is there any noticeable improvement due to the ACER Cinemavision and clearvision?

Thanks in advance

I have the 2026, no dead pixels here!

The display is really nice, but i dont know how it compares to other 15,4 widescreen displays.

Nope they don't.

Just a question, what do they do with screens that have dead pixels? Sell them at a discount? Repair them? Put them in a big ol' landfill? I mean I sent back unit with defective screen, and now I feel bad, like I wasted technology someone else would have been more than happy with, especially two or three years ago! :P

I have the 2012. A dead pixel about 3 inches at 11 oclock from center. Since it's a WXGA and each pixel is bigger than say a WSXGA+ screen, it's noticeable. Annoying...very...

Tech: No, really, I'm serious. I just wonder what they do with them all. I mean I seen so many messages from people returning their units with dead pixels or whatever... just wondering who gets them. Just seems like a huge waste to trash a $500 thing for a few broken pixels. You'd think they'd come up with some way to recoup the cost or someway to fix them by now?

can't fix it... it's a "limitation of the technology" or so they call it

They prolly resell them as a refurb. Keep in mind that for a lot of people, a single dead pixel isn't that big of a deal. By nature, the people who frequent these forums are pretty fussy about their machines.

As far as I know acer has a policy of 1 dead pixel in the center region of the screen, 5 in a row or 3 in multiple places on the screen. Your dead pixel in the center would qualify for rma.

i got 1 dark pixel in the center of the screen
can't display any light color

2025, no dead pixels here

2012 here without any dead pixels.

Actually Acer recently changed their policy AFAIK. One dead pixel in any area allows for an immediate exchange. Can't beat that. Too bad their service still sucks.

I have a 2012 with one dead pixel. It's about and inch from the bottom and a 1/4 inch from the left side. Hardly noticeable.
