I gotta decide between one of these two. I want to be able to play HL2 and maybe Doom 3 when they come out. I dont know if the 64mb card will handle those games. Here are the Specs. What does everyone think?

Acer:
Pentium M 1.5ghz
512 DDR
DVD+RW
15.4 WXGA
60GB 4200
Radeon 9700 64mb
($1450)

Sager 4080
Pentium 4 2.8ghz
512 DDR
DVD/CDRW
15 SXGA
60 5400
Radeon 9600 PRO 128mb
($1450)

the sager has a 9600 pro turbo

sager if you don't mind battery/weight.

Hrm. Tough call but I'd prolly go for the 4080 between the two. They're really tailored at different things.

Acer = Well rounded, battery life, widescreen, good video (albeit no better than a 9600), etc.

Sager - Glossy screen (fabulous based on reviews), 9600 Pro prolly has a bit more potential with 128 megs...although teh balance between playable resolution based on the video card's architecture and speed vs playable resolution based on video memory is yet to be determined, negligible battery life.

Whats the battery life like?
i'm guessing a little over one hour at best (or a little under 2 hours)

Doing what Saly? There's some reviews on the Sager up in the Sager section. Don't expect to be too far away from a plug for too long on battery with it.

I want to get the acer, the only thing stopping me is the video card. Will the 9700 run games better than the TI4400 i have in my desktop?
ROFL of course it will..My 9700 smokes my Ti4200 like there's no tomorrow.

(and i have the MSI "overclocked" version)

You have a 128mb 9700, you think the 64mb 9700 will smoke the Ti4400 in high end games like far cry, despite the difference in memory?
if you run farcry at low res, yes. Note the TI4400 is not a DX9 card either so it won't look nearly as great.

Whats the battery life like on the CL56?
not shabby in general, a little over 4 hours doing regular web-browsing.

Anything you dont like about your cl56?
screen, a little bit of a heat issue on mine if i have it on my lap, but others don't complain about this. The screen also ghosts a bit if you're playing black on white games like NHL2003. Other than that, not much.

Does the cl56 come with a warranty form mwave?
not explicitly. some users have said mwave is great and they will allow you to exchange, but their website stipulates that warranty is done through the manufacturer, which is this case would be chemUSA (which is actually the distributor, the real manufacturer as we know is compal)

Whats the warranty like from the manufacturer?
I've heard good and bad about chemUSA. One user in particular (klas) had various issues with them and returned his CL56 twice i believe. I wouldn't think it would be too bad.
