i know...so arent there any benchmarks say comparing th amd64 on 32bit linux and then on 64bit linux..

that shud tell us how big the jump will be in performance when the 64bit XP comes out

I don't expect any, myself. As most of the Linux is just recently out and they're fixing bugs, and XP 64 is in alpha, some of the OS's worked with some programs and some didn't. Result, in my opinion: Too early to tell. Wait til the bandwagon has a station to stop at.

will PC with AMD 64s run faster on 64 bit compared to 32 bit.

i would have thought that there would have been less processing power needed to run a 32 bit OS than a 64 bit.
