$2 solution to M505X/XL LCD to wristrest bezel scratches....picture links fixed

I tried this the other day, but the links weren't right.

Anyway, I too had those scratches caused by the LCD bezel rubber bumpers being too small. I picked these "Page Pebbles" up at Hobby Lobby, an arts and crafts superstore chain. I don't know what page pebbles are supposed to be for, but they work in this case. They're not too thick to let the lid close, but they're thick enough to prevent bezel-to-bezel contact.

hey good idea! I have the same problem with mine... the rubbing from the top lcd lid. Gateway supposely is going to replace my lower chassis. Well c how it goes... i dont know if its worth it to send the unit back to them to replace sometime such as this... they can cause more damage etc from shipping and the techs might even scratch the casing etc. Anyways can i buy the rest of those clear rubber things from u? let me know with your email addresss thanks

I havent experienced any scratching on my bezel yet (knock on wood), but should I still do this fix as a "preemptive strike"?

Unless your lappy always sits on the table, I think you will eventually get these same "rubbing" scratches. I've seen many, many other posters with the same complaint. So yes, I would do it as a preventative measure.

Bryan:
PM me your info. I would like to keep some for backup, but I wouldn't mind just mailing you a few, no cost. If you want a whole pack though, then $3 will cover one pack, tax, a stamp, and an envelope.

Microfiber cloth

I've had my 505 for about a month and a half and did not see any of the scratches that some where talking about, but I decided to buy a "shaggymac" anyway.

It is a custom cut microfiber cloth mat, thicker than what one uses to clean glasses with, and protects the screen from being damaged by the keys and prevents scratches too.

It is $15, for the XL plus shipping. One can use it to wipe the screen clean of dirt/dust too.

Yeah, I think I might get that because I applied FlyG's "mod" and it prevented my screen from closing fully.

Cool, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work. Two of my bumpers are right next to the latches, and it still closes. Perhaps you need to move them towards the outer edge of the screen (where it curves). This may give you that extra bit of slack.

How about you, Bryan? Any luck?

In any case, a ShaggyMac is still a good idea.
