Wow..ok...I learned how to post threads...great...
Anyway I was wondering what everyone thinks about the Aspire 2020, 25, 26. I do not know the differences between the 3..so if anyone knows
I am as I've posted going to Japan in September! And I need a reliable computer...I got a few recs for Dell and the Cl56, but Dell to me is a bit overpriced for what it comes with . And the CL56's speakers are a draw back for me.
I definately want a dvdrw.
I want a sleak look (i cant find a computer for a decent price that is painted besides the CL56)
I need at least 1.7Ghz Centrino
I need good battery life
I want ATI 9700 128MB
I want light
I want at least 80 GB HD.. how much slower is 4200 to 5400.. cause I dunno what the speed is for the Aspire..if anyone knows that
I want great sound
I want great picture
I WANT I WANT I WANT...i know...im a needy whore

I also wonder how the slot in media center performs....It looks interesting.
Heres the link to the 2020Aspire 2020

***I was also considering a laptop like my dads...the Sony V1. It doesnt have DVDrw...though..and I dont know how it does with a little gaming? Other than that its perfect...the 512 memory is a little low...but oh well....

Suggestions are appreciated! Oh and I only have about $2000

hmm 80gb of ram will be interesting

lol, you mean 80 GB Harddrive.

I've heard that most Acers ship out with 4200 drives and there is a noticeable difference between that and 5400 RPM.

Its always to get a faster hd.

Plus make sure that you can live with WXGA, I thought I could but then I looked, and I can't.

What is WXGA?

1200x800 resolution, usually found on a 15.4inch widescreen

And its bad? or whats wrong with it?
Supposedly not enough screen space. But I dunno, because I don't have a laptop yet, and I'm used to my old 17" crt at 1024x768, so anything is gonna seem pretty damn high res to me.
I would never want a higher res for a laptop than 1280x800 on a 15 inch widescreen. In my opinion, text becomes difficult to read at higher resolutions and everything is just too small. Also, why not give your laptop video card an easier time running games at native res?

For doing graphics/video work, you'd better get yourself an additional desktop LCD or CRT anyway.

I'm used to 1600x1200 on a 19inch so I can't live with 1200x800.

I dont think you are going to find "great" sound in any laptop. Get a good pair of headphones or an external soundcard and some good peakers.

Dont let poor sound effect your decision, there are many ways to overcome it.

ooh external soundcard how do those work?
they usually plug into your USB port, then you insert your sound connectors into that.

A nice pair of headphones will run you about the same.
