IBM Thinkpad T41 Help

Hey guys, I just need some advice on which laptop I should get before I head out to college. I've been leaning toward and IBM T1, but I have heard issues with harddrive failure on those espeically with the 80 gig capcity drives. Therefore, I've taken to my other options. I've looked at Alienware, Sager, and Compal and I have no idea where to turn anymore. I would have taken the AW Sentia, but they no longer have the 14" displays. You help would be much appreciated.

Thank guys

Well I am partial to sager so i would check that out. They have a lot of options, 3 different processors with powerful graphics cards. Acers are also nice. You need to be specific on what you want.

I'm leaning toward the following specs

14" or 15" SXGA+ TFT Active Matrix
(hopefully) ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 w/128MB DDR
1.8GHz "Dothan" IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® Processor M 745 w/2,048k L2 On-die Cache
512MB (1 SODIMM) PC2700 DDR333 Memory
60GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive 7200 rpm

compal cl 56 from powernotebooks. not a bad price and you can paint it if you want without killing your warranty.

Yep sounds like a CL56 to me too. With the money you save you could buy yourself a few kegs for the dorm . Aaah, college life....if only I could go back...

It seems like it. Are there any issues with the Compal that I should be worried about? I have heard some things about the screen. How is the service , reliablity, etc. I just need it to last 4 full years.

well it looks like a sturdy computer, and it should handle most tasks farely well. if your worried about warranty i would still check out powernotebooks, they seem to have there act together.

I was just looking at Hypersonic and their pixel gaurentee is very attractive. I'm thinking about their CX5 model which is pretty much the CL56. However, I see the CX6 out now as well. Do you guys have any idea of which one could be better to get because regardless, the price and what I get out of the CX5 far outweighs IBM.
