Omg. I only got a 1220 on the sat's. 3.1 gpa though. I feel really dumb now. I guess that's why I'm an art student.
wow this is scary, i got 20 points lower than you on SATs and i was in 7th grade then, and didn't study for the life of me. no offense, man, but this is kinda weird. my friend got a 1300 (same age/grade BTW)... wow, i feel too smart for my own good. and what would an A average translate to in GPA form? please don't kill me for asking this everyone...

gpa doesnt directly translate from your average, its just basically an average of your letter scores. example say you had straight As youd have a 4.0.

ok you guys are starting to exxagerate now, the math i can understand is just common sense, but theres no way you guys are doing that great on the verbal without any type of studying, espicially in 7th grade. considering a 1/4th of the test is just memorizing thousands of words.

oh ok, thanks mr. woo. and i will scan and show you my results paper, i swear to god that i did as well as i said....actually it was an 1180 (sorry, it was an exaggeration i guess ) but as soon as i can get my scanner working and can find a free image host i will post the picture.

before i take the screenshot (i just went back on the website ) can anyone recommend a free image host (or if you have your own please say so and give your email so i can email the pic to you) and once i put the pic up, how do i get it to show up (or should i just post a link)?

i said you didnt do that well without studying not that you just didnt do that well, and i didnt mean just you.

i had to study quite a bit of vacabulary to get a 1470(well not that much, but its the most studying iv ever done for anything), those words dont just magically come to those gifted, you have to learn them regardless.

ahh.. damn.. i always wished UofT did that, cuz i did really bad the first year (the first semester).. and that jus pulled my cumulative GPA down so much.. even though my marks got consistently better after that.
well. too bad so sad.. for me...

Going into my third year (of four) of Software Engineering at McGill University.

Personally i don't think they sat's were that helpful. I needed to bust my ass to get a decent portfolio to get in my school. That's what mattered. When i took the Sat's I was sick as well. So that might have had something to do with it. But i did better than the first time. i took it twice. what can i say, i can't stand lots of fill ins.

I graduated from Utah Valley State College. They have a damn fine CS program.

Got a good job fairly quickly after graduation with it and more than doubled my income.

I'm probably going to start grad school in the winter or the summer. I'm considering the University of Maryland of Johns Hopkins.

Super

I hear ya. I had a couple bad semesters early on and I never got out of it. Still graduated with a 3.4 though.

gpa shmepa

imo gpa should not be your biggest concern, it can be important if you want to go to graduate school but then again professor recomendation letters are really important for that too. As for getting a job they may help you get an interview but knowing people is more important then grades. So just try to learn what you want from the classes and that is all that matters thats why your going to school well at least thats why i'm paying money to go to school. I'll be staring my PHd in Electrical Engineering at University of California San Diego in the Fall.

sats are extremely overrated. IMHO, the category that really matters most is one's gpa as it exemplifies one's academic excellence (or deficiency) for four full years while SATS only measure one's ability to take a three hour test. Granted SAT's do matter but GPA and EC activites matter much more.
I completely agree SAT's are overrated its not a test of knowledge so much as it is a test of endurance. GPA, extracurriculars, and community service is where you set yourself apart. Or you could have all of it and still not set yourself apart because of your race...

its all in my avitar, tuskegee univ. this fall as a freshman majoring in comp sci, can hardly wait. i hope my mitac 8050 treats me well.

Consider this about the SAT: it's more a test of 8th grade knowledge (verbal & math), more than anything, a test of how well you take the SAT. the SAT2s are what test high school education stuffs.
