Power saving?

My brother is on leave for 14 or so days, and he has a Dell Inspiron 9100 (I feel sorry for him)....

Go Airforce!

Anywho he sasy setting the background color to 0s (with no wallpaper) will extend some (probably not a massive ammount) battery life. He goes on to explain something about computer processes and some other stuff i wasn't really listening to... But from what i heard i guess this might work, anybody else care to correct me or enlighten me?

Thats very true, a black background does't require as much power from the LCD as with a background, because of the amount of lit pixels. But the difference is pretty minimal. Thats also why you can dim your screen, the darker, the less power being pumped into the LCD, the longer the battery life.

Also if you're watching a movie or only working in one application, killing explorer can also help.

also, if all you do is sit and stare and your screen instead of actually using your laptop that saves a whole lot of battery life :P
