Choppy Touchpad, CL56

Help! The touchpad on my CL56 is choppy. When moving the mouse pointer from point A to point B it will freeze up for a tenth of a second when something else is running in the background, like when I fire up an application for example. It seems to freeze up when the hard drive is being accessed.

I used the driver disk that came with the machine, Ver. 1.0. To try to fix it I unistalled it and installed the lastest from Synaptics but that did not solve the problem.

I’ve tried changing pointer speed, turned off enhance pointer precision, turned off pointer shadow, and several other settings with no success.

Any ideas?

Search for any new pointer device drivers. If that doesn't work, request an RMA from the company you brought it from or the manufacturer.
