I have gone through the old thread and summarized most of everything that everybody found, but I left out some of the computer component pricing that is changing daily.

Keep up the sharp eyes, everyone!

I would like to start this thread as a way of hunting down bargains on useful items for our laptops and or desktops computers!

How it works is you post an item you would like to purchase and everyone sees it and tries to beat the price you found before long we will have the cheapest price on the net. By pooling our ablities we should come up with some killer prices. (Winner one with the cheapest price gets the satisfaction of beaing the bargain hunter of the day, week , month till soemone dethrones you with another bargain!)

I will start off with the first item I think is much needed for these laptops and that is a good notebook cooling device.
here is an example.

It does not have to be this exact item but this is one of the most popular.

Feel Free to add your own items, reveiws, general comments also!

HAPPY HUNTING!

I did not post that one! I dont even use it or reccomend DVD-X-Copy. Why would I? When you can get much better IMO software that does the same thing for FREE!

do both dvd shrink and dvd x-copy copy from a dvd to a regular 800 meg CD? i thought x-copy actually copied from dvd to dvd, so you wouldnt lose picture quality, bonus features...etc...

Well I dotn think DVDshrink will copy to a 800meg CD but if you get Dr.Divx like I did you can do it. DVDshrink will however let you copy all the extras and Menus over noproblem there is some loss when compressing it but its hardly noticable!

Netgear wired router! For those with boradband connections you shoudl get one of these will work as a hardware firewall to protect you fromall that crap that is outon the net plus it will allow you to connect 3 more PCs to your Broadband connection. I told one person I know to go out and get one and he realy likes it he gets alot less spyware and such and it was realy easy to setup. for parents you can even login to the router and tell it waht sites are not allowed and what times people are allowed to logon. this router is initaly 59.99 but has $50 in rebates effectivly making it $10 if you want to put up the effort. Thso mail-in rebates are a pain in the butt though!

Best dual layer Drives!

These are the best dual layer drives you can buy and they are dirt cheap. I personaly have one of thier CD-RWs and it is great Lite-on Makes some quality stuff and are the OEM for alot of other guys. They also made the power brick for the Area-51m. Look on the bottom i fyou don't belive me. Anyway here is a dual layer dvd drive for only $82 and its quiet efficiant and seems to work very well by the review i have read. I fyou are in the market for a new drive you should look into this one. I know its high on my want list. (that is a very long list BTW)

Lite-on duallayer DVD+/-RW ( I know they are out of stock more will be in shortly they are very popular!)

Anybody that is, to say the least, a bit disapointed with the sound quality on their A51m's should take a look at the Creative MP3 Plus USB external sound card. It cost me 24.00 at Fred Meyers(regional, but they have website} and is rock solid with music or games and sounds amazing for the money when hooked up to some small Altec lansing two ways. It has a lot of features for the dough and all my onboard sound problems went away with its arrival. Seems like I couldn't keep the AC97 drivers fresh enough and was constantly reinstalling them. My games sound awesome now and music is a joy again. Check em out!
