I just ordered one, can't wait, and I figure since this is a pre-order and I'll have to wait anyway I'll pay with a check and save almost $50 too.

I want a big detailed review from you guys especially obimattkenobi. Gpu clockspeeds, benchmarks and how well it runs doom 3. And battery life test. You may have to watch one of the LOTR extended editions and another dvd to wear out the battery!
Check, got lotr extendid editions (fellowship and two towers) and 12 cell battery, I will report back, it's the least I can do for the forums, I was gonna get a sony that was not nearly as powerful as the 3790 before I got here.

Luke,
I want to configure the np3790 with 2 gigs of ram, currently it only has an option up to 1gig of ram, are you still working on this. And I am thinking about a second 12cell battery as well, is it difficult to replace the battery on this machine? Do I have to unscrew a compartment to get to the battery?

Thanks

how do you all think the blue cover looks. I like it and I dont like it. I dont know and what is the best band for the buck in the processor. what are you all getting. I see some are getting the 1.7. I was looking at the 2.0 but I dont know if it really worth the price. Need help. Thanks.

Is $130 for a 12 cell worth it?

2.0 Dothan Worth it?

RFS -

I went with the 1.7 for a couple reasons. Right now it seems to be the best compromise between price and performance, in terms of price jumps (from 725 to 735, 735 to 745, etc.) on different machines (I know PCTorque isn't offering the 715 or 725 on th 3790, but I've done a lot of configurating over the past couple weeks and this is based on many different sites).

In addition, many people have noted that the extra speed boost provides a negligible real-world increase due to other unavoidable bottlenecks (i.e. HDD, GPU) in the system.

Finally, for me, was the fact that the CPU would be an upgrade I would consider when prices come down (as we know they eventually will), and getting the 2.0 gives me little room to upgrade

Are there any pics of the blue metalic? And are there any more pics of the standard 3790? Maybe some side views, top view, closed view?

Thanks

Thanks I forgot that these are upgradeable.

here is as pic of the cover

I just got back home from sager to get my Sager NP4750 and I saw thier new NP3790 in WUXGA with a blue Lcd back cover. It looks pretty damn cool. The blue is like my BMW M3 blue... so I guess I have something else on my want list. The salesmen told me that its gonna ship no later than the 13th of this month.

How thick is the 3790 anyway?

There seems to be a discrepancy between the dimensions luke quoted and the ones on Sager's (and Voodoo's) website. Is it 1.5" thick, or 1.2"? I'm hoping 1.2, as that's what both Sager and Voodoo imply, but I want to hear it from someone official.

Also, let me second this question: how much does the 12 cell battery add to weight? Does it maintain the unit dimensions, or does it stick out (ala the IBM T40p 9 cell battery)?

This is looking like a great laptop!
I would bet the height discrepancy is due to the little feet this notebook has. Some measurements are the case measurement and some are probably actuall height from resting surface to the top of case. I believe the feet are .25 inches so that would explain your difference.

Thanks for the pic rfs830! Is this just a blue cover that can be removed at anytme?
that is the same think I was wondering. it dose not look like it can. I need more pics. I guess I will have to wait till it come out before I order

What is the average battery life for a 12 cell battery on a pentium m system? If it is 8 hours and I get a second one...then that's 16 hours total on an average day?
yes indeedy
Hmmm - I think that is a pretty agressive estimate for battery life. With the high screen resolution and the 9700 128mb you will more likely get 4.5 - 6 hours of life with the 12cell. Still quite good considering the capabilities of the machine.

I wonder how many hours of gaming you could expect to get.

prolly 3.5-4 w/ a 12-cell, on the safe side.
