Linux 2.5 and ati

Hi,

I have a Sager NP5670 with the ATI mobility radeon 9000 working and am getting ~1600fps with glxgears. However, this is only under Linux 2.4.20 and when I tried Linux 2.5.69, X wouldn't boot up and gave some fglx errors. Has anyone gotten 2.5 working with the ATI drivers yet?

2.5 is devel

I have booted several 2.5 on 56XX, but consider that they are devel/unstable and they have a great chance to not boot.

As it is mentionned in the ATI doc of fglrx, the fglrx module can be build only on 2.4.X kernels, hence why it fails.

Hope that helps, by the way, 2.6.0 isn't that far now.

Thanks for the info. I used to run 2.5 on my old comp and tried it on my shiny new Sager, and with the new scheduler and code to make the mouse more responsive there was a noticeable difference in X. Looks like I'll just patch the new scheduler onto 2.4 and wait it out...
