I was just wondering if anyone has ordered the new sentia yet. Doesnt sound like too many people are real interested in it because of the small size. I just wanted to hear if anyone had ordered one yet. If so how did you configure it??

I just ordered one today. I worry about the quality of the device; if it arrives unworking I'm just going to tweak. I'm also concerned that the video card sucks. And I hope the battery life is at least 4 hours. The other thing is, because it is so new, there had better not be those little problems with the model that usually aren't discovered for a little while--like the screen on the keyboard makes a weird contact point or something, you know what I'm talking about. Anywho, I'm pretty excited because it's a cool little computer.

IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® M 755 2.0GHz 2MB L2 Cache 400MHZ FSB

512MB DDR PC-2700 at 333MHz - 2x256 SO-DIMMs

Hitachi 60GB 7200 RPM ATA100 with 8MB Cache

1 Year Warranty

sweet, sounds cool. I bet that there isnt any weird things about it, basically the just redefined the old one so its not like they fully started from scratch. Yah im ordering mine in a few days and im super excited. I think im gettin the 735 1.7 and then just 256 megs of ram cuz i will go buy my own and put it in myself cuz its so damn expensive to get it from them. For the video card i dont think it should be a big deal. Like all the old sentia owners didnt love it but they were not like pissed off about it. its just not an radeon 9700 or anything, lol. Post pics when it arives!!!

every computer has "problems", it's life. Get used to it or kill yer self.

Home built computers are either the worst for problems or the best. I know when I built mine I wanted dual montiors so I got 2 cards. When both did something at the same time the PC locked up. I got a dual head card and it cleared right up. Its all trial and error

yah that is right, all computes have there little things that happen, but im gettin the 3 year warranty so if something happens in the next three years its under warranty so they will fix it. I have a pretty good feeling about the new sentia, If your not into a small computer that doesnt weigh much then its probably not right, but i want something that i can take everywhere and not feel its with me.

Ordered my new 12" Sentia a week ago Saturday. Though the site says the notebooks won't ship 'til August, the salesperson told me that it would be ready in close to 7 days. He also spelled my e-mail address wrong.

After the initial credit card issue with online sites, I'm finally in stage 3, and have been there since Tuesday.

Selected specs:
1.7 ghz 735 core
60 gig hitachi 7200rpm
512 1xsodimm

I really couldn't care less about the GPU or some of the display issues. I bought this machine because I wanted a sleek, light, sexy notebook that I could cart around campus and work.

Called Alienware today about my order status. Turns out the 12 inch screens are on backorder as well. 3 week delay

I phoned the order in a week ago Saturday and the rep told me it'd be ready in 7 days

3 week delay ?? - I might be dead of boredom while waiting or worst it may be obsolete by then.

That's what I was thinking...cancelling my order and getting one of those spiffy athlon 64 notebooks that are coming out. But then again, do I really want to wait until Christmas to get it?

I can bear the 3 weeks, I hope.

Woo HOO!! I ordered my sentia today. I am so excited to get it and i have been waiting forever untill i had enough money to finally buy it. I cant wait and i hope its what im expecting!!!

Its like buying a house and having to wait for them to build it. Kinda werid if you ask me.
Heh...code...

That's EXACTLY how it works when you build a house just a heads up
post #18 of 91
Craig but they take draws on the money. You can stop the draws if what the builder is doing does not suit you.

Excitment is the best part of getting an Alienware. I was excited the 1st 3 weeks. After all delays and backorders the excitment goes away and your left wondering if you will get anything.

They should go ahead and ship the bags and stuff so you cant Cancel the order LOL

What exactly is the difference between the new sentia and the old one? Am i seeing the new one on the web page right now when i go to configure it?
You're seeing the new one, and you can no longer buy the old one. The main difference is that the old screen was 14 inches, and the new one is a 12 inch widescreen. The new one also has updated processor speeds that go up to pentium m 2.0, whereas the old one was up to 1.7 I believe. The battery life is probably better on the new model. Unfortunately, you cannot get a DVD burner on the new Sentia whereas you could with the old one. There are other changes, but I think that's probably the gist of it.
