3. What about the rest of us that work in small business environments?

Actually the NEW Sentia is limited to only silver at this point (verify it for yourself on the site). You must be speaking of the older model in which blue, green, and silver where available.

Silver actually looks pretty badass. I think that AW seems to make a good looking notebook with functionality built right in. What type of notebook do you have? I have my 8100 and let me tell you, it is a piecer with its noisy, flexing chasis, that is slipery to grip. I would much rather have the Sentia. I suppose that is why I ordered it!

Order status just moved to Phase 5 on the new Sentia Extreme. I'm starting to believe that parts have actually come in ...

New Sentia Extreme Ordered on July 1. Target ship date Aug 2.
Still in phase 5.

Called today for status. Apparently no mini-pci wireless cards for 3 more weeks. This looks like we are in for a long bumpy ride.

my new sentia 12" just went into:

Phase 9: (Production: Assembly & Integration)
Your system is being hand-built by an Alienware® Assembly Technician. We take great pride in building our systems, as our motto reflects, "build it as if it were your own". Any reviews out?

I was all set on either the IBM X40 (or maybe even the Sony X505, tough to justifyu the $$$ though), but now I'm starting to think about the new Sentia. For about $100 more than a 1.2 Ghz IBM you can get a 1.7 Sentia. The huge ordering time is an issue, but I can live with that, I think. My first question is, does anyone know if the company would care if I ordered one and then had to change the shipping address? I'm moving to the US (from Canada) for grad school in August and so by the time it comes I'll be there (but I don't have an address there yet). I doubt that'll be much of a problem though.

The main thing I wanted to ask was if there are any review of this 12' out yet? Would reviewers for places like Cnet, etc have a machine already? I'd just like to get at least some info on it before making the call...

Thanks alot.

Thanks alot. When you said ETA of 9-30, did you mean 8-30? Beacuse I'm getting an ETA of 8-31 on the site right now. Speaking of which, I figure I'll give the sentia a shot and see how it plays out. I was wondering about the coupon codes though. Where can you get the coupons from? websites? if anyone could point me in the right direciton it would be much appreciated.

the website ETA is wrong.....alienware doesnt keep their website updated too well. Night was right with 9-30 ETA. Probably not what you wanted to hear. lol.

I still haven't made it out of phase 5 yet even though I ordered it July 9th. I'm guessing almost all of us are around the same timetable anyway.

So if I ordered now they're saying Sept 30 for delivery? If the wireless cards are the holdup, wouldn't it start moving through the line once they come in? I mean I guess if they're telling people its 2 months then theres not much I can do... I start school around the end of August so the longest I could wait it maybe the first week of September... well I'll give them a call tommorrow and see then... Thanks again.

can someone explain to me why you'd pay that much for for a notebook that does not have anywhere near as good a screen as the Dell 700m?

I ordered mine on July 17, and slowly progressed through the stages. And I was in stage 5 this whole weekend, and I checked today at noon and was up to Stage 9. So thats good, although I bet I'll be in 9 for months, but it feels like progress.
