How long does it take to charge up?

I let the battery on my 8886 die out then around I guess 6-7 am this morning I started charging it
Right now it is 2:22PM and the light is still green

I also had a wierd problem
The first time I started to charge it the light was orange which means it's full when it wasn't
I thought that was strange so I just left it and maybe an hour or 2 later when I woke up it was still orange so I unplugged the ac power to see if the battery was full but it wasn't since I couldn't start up the computer

That's when I plugged it in again then It was green and I am still waiting for it to turn orange

Another tidbit
The MP3 player, looks decent, not rough around the edges like I thought it would be but I used the 2 batteries that came with I guess the remote control and put it in the MP3 player
I'm guessing I only listened to the player for an hour or so and the batteries went dead?
Hmm is it the batteries that are crappy or is it the MP3 that eats it up that fast?
I don't think it would be too useful if it lasts that long
I'll be going through batteries like crazy
I was thinking at least 5-10 hours

I'll probably write a review later on

Thanks

Did you have the computer on while it was charging? I don't think it should take that long even with it on... but it would have an effect. Also, did you have the batteries in the mp3 player while it was plugged into the laptop? Like as in while you weren't using it? I heard that it causes them to drain if you do that... Just a guess. And it would be great if you posted a review later! :-) Thanks!

No, The computer wasn't on while charging and yes I did have the batteries in the MP3 player while it was in the laptop but it was just for like 10 minutes while I put a song on it

Hmm... could it be that having batteries in the mp3 player while it's plugged into the lappy shorts the battery circuit and causes them to discharge at high rates? That would make absolutely no sense. Has anyone else had trouble with battery longevity in the mp3 player? I wish you could put rechargeable batteries in the mp3 player and have them charge when they're plugged into the mp3 player and it is in the lappy... Lol. As far as your battery charge times, I would recommend calling Sager tech support and asking them... The number is on the sticky that PCTorque put up in the tech support forum here. Let us know what ends up happening!

If you're talking about the batteries that came with it, I'd try some good quality Energizers for electronic devices in it.

I'll try that since I didn't have any batteries in the house
How about the charge times?
It's been like 8 hours and the light is still green
I don't have the computer on

Thanks

Yes, keep in mind that the batteries that came with it are for a remote control, lol, not expected to be under much strain. But I definitely would call Sager about your battery... Is it charging at all? If you unplug it now will it turn on?

Yes
I unplugged the ac before to check up on the battery
In windows in says it was at 100%
I'll let it charge abit more to see if I get the orange light before bugging Sager about it

Hmm... that's weird... the battery shows as being 100% but the charge light stays on... Are you sure you have the lights right? Lol, I know that's a dumb question, you have prolly already checked on that in the manual, but hey, I might as well ask. :-) No offense intended. If you plug it in and take out the battery, does the light stay on? It could just be stuck on, eh? Let us know! Good luck!

The first time I charged my 8886 the green light just stayed on the whole time. The second time, the light was orange while charging and green when fully charged. Of course, the manuals are being translated...

LoL that happened to me to, I used the batterys in the mp3 player and it lasted about 2 hours. I did have it in the comp for a week or two though, I have a feeling that the interface the mp3 player used to connect to the comp while its in the slot isnt "powered" and uses the mp3 players batteries for power, can anyone try putting their mp3 player in the laptop w/o batteries and seeing if it works?
Ha, I like that translated manual statement. :-) Has it stopped doing that stuff since then Redundant? It could be the lappy calibrating the battery... I know a lot that do that kind of thing.

I want to call Sager and ask them how exactly the mp3 player interfaces with the lappy. Anyone know? Is it just a customized little port or is there a USB2 port in there that the thing plugs into (cuz I know it's USB2 compatable)? Thanks!

Well I'm gonna forget about the charging lights for now since everything seems to be working fine
Maybe the manual got it mixed?
Green is fully charged, Orange means charging?

Anyways I am really stoked right now
I am typing this downstairs with my wireless connection I just installed
Man , was it easy, BTW it's a Netgear card and I believe the R814 Netgear router/blah blah blah/ access point

Pretty cheap too
About $150 for both plus theres a $35 and $15 rebate
So $100

I dunno when I'll write a review
Having too much fun right now and it isn't even my computer
It's for my brother, I'm helping him setup everything since he's a n00b

WIll get back to this post later on

Well, I have no batteries in my mp3 drive and XP reads it as a valid storage medium so... I guess that if you do have batteries in it, it overides internal power. My charging is still orange and charged green... Go figure.

I think the charging lights make sence though, Green = Go/Ready, Orange = Charging, I dunno seems like it should be

From the manual:

My demo sitting here is the same way. It shows green/green and when I unplug it, it shows 99% battery life. It's been running for 2 days straight since I ran it down to nothing. I'm wondering how accurate this LED indicator is.

I'm thinking manual made a mistake
Right now I am charging my 8886 again
It's Orange, when it's done it should be Green

Got me all confused last night

You may be right. They could have printed it wrong in the manual.

i am also a little concerned about my batteries, they discharge very fast, even when i am doing nothing very power hungry and takes for ever to recharge, its my one and only complaint, but i am wondering why after about one hour with both batteries in my 5660 i am close to dead, and then when i plug it in to recharge it take about 3-7 hours, depending if its turned off or not, i think the batteries may be defective, PCT any thoughts ?

CTRL ALT DEL to see what all you have running. There are many things out there that will kill your system. One thing is the google toolbar, many people are running their CPU at 100% crunching in the background and don't realize it. Make sure you set the bios for 50% throttle when on batteries and throw a DVD in, you should get over 2 hours with the dual batteries without a problem.
