Looking for a good external sound card

I was wondering what is a good external sound card to use for some gaming (i.e. fastest framerate while playing all the sounds). This is a page ive been looking at: http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer...223/index.html , and i have to say that the creative mp3+ external sound card looks to be the best frame rate wise at the end of the comparison. The only thing that bugs me is that there are two audio channels available for the card...aaaannd i dont know what that means . Is this better than the realtek audio card already in my laptop, if not, could someone please recommend a card to me? I dont really care about sourround sound fyi, i just dont notice it at all when playing games (and the fact that i live in a dorm = no space). Thanks in advance.

I have heard good things about the Audigy in that article...I don't have any experience with external sound cards though. Hopefully someone else can be of actual help

just bought the creative mp3+ today...and i got to say KICK ASS. The sound quality alone blows the on board sound away. No more feedback from the machine or muffled sound at high volume. And the performance in battlefield vietnam is much better too. Plus it doesnt require an external power souce and it can latch on to almost anything (thanks to small velcro strips). And all for $40, good deal IMO
