New to laptop! Need help choosing one.

HI ppl. i'm new to this site.

I"m currently going to buy a new laptop, unfortunately, i dunno which one to choose from. I've been surfing this site for a while and found that the sager 5670 looks cool.

I'm basically going to use my computer for gaming and web design. (Running PHotoshop dreamreaver together). I"m basically going to play games such as CnC general or medieval total war. Can any one recommend me a laptop that can do all those.

I've found this notebook, and it looks cool. Does any one know that this computer can play games or not. http://www.twinhead.com/PRO/N1400/

Thanks..

That computer wont run Generals well, if even at all. I think Generals has a 256 mb ram minimum. That laptop only comes with 128 mb of ram. 2 ghz is fast enough for most games now but in the near future games are going to come out that need more power than the 2 ghz processor can give. Plus that mobile processor only has a 400 mhz fsb. I hate to sound like some lousy salesman or something but Sager makes the best laptops for the money. You can't beat Sager. If I were you, and didn't have an urgent need to purchase a laptop I would wait for the 800 mhz fsb and the m10. Probably a few more months until the m10 is in Sagers. The 800 mhz fsb is soon I think.

It does have one SODIMM slot...

According to the Tech Specs that machine has one SODIMM slot for a max of 640MB... of course, it also says 1.8GHz max, so take it with a grain of salt.

I do not think a Mobile P4 is a good solution for gaming. Maybe the Pentium-M chip will be better (remains to be seen), otherwise stick with a desktop (P4) processor... and faster Front Side Bus (533MHz FSB, to be precise).

Yeah that laptop doesn't look like it will do the things you want to do very well. Look somewhere else.

I was looking around the forum and found the Acer travelmate 800

is that system good for games i mention?

If you want a Centrino system, then yea that Acer would work just fine.

The question is whether you need the features of a Centrino badly enough to play a good deal more money than for a Sager of equivalent performance. If you need the extended battery life and wireless networking, then the Acer is probably what you want.

If on the other hand you won't really need those, you'd be much better off with a Sager 5670 or one of the new models they'll be coming out with IMHO.

Edit: The PowerPro M 5:16 would be cheaper than the Acer for the same specs, though I don't know how well made they are. I assume they are pretty good, being a Compal product.
