Well, I received my backpack a while ago, but I forgot to tell you guys about it.
Several points of interest -
1). This thing is pretty big. That means its also pretty heavy. It doesn't bother me, because I'm 6'1" and 190 lbs, but it might be too heavy for a smaller person.
2). There is a whole lot of space in this thing. There are more pockets than I know what to do with. There is a pocket in it for a CD player or an mp3 player, with a weather resistant hole for the headphone cable to come out. This would be nice, but appearantly, iRiver doesn't have a remote that is compatible with the iGP-100, so I won't be using this pocket.
3). The protection for the laptop is alright. When its in the pocket, about 4 inches stick out the top, which is pretty pathetic in my opnion, but there is enough padding in the actual backpack (apart from the pocket) to keep the laptop safe. The pockete however, will not accomodate an i8600 with the Case Logic notebook sleeve that I have; the sleeve doesn't allow the laptop to slide into the pocket, as there is too much friction between the two. Its alright though, as it really doesn't need the sleeve, and it will be faster to get the laptop out and turned on.
4). Looks. The backpack looks great, no doubt about that. It looks like a regular backpack, not like a laptop backpack like the Targus and other ones I saw at Best Buy. Also, its even less of a target without the Alienware logos.
Unfortunately, I just saw over in the Alienware forums that this bag is available from NewEgg for about $60, so it appears that I spent $30 extra to buy it from the manufacturer. Oh well, I might return it, I might not.
