Lid closing and opening - Driver issue?

Prior to my upgrade to the latest Omega driver for the i8600, whenever I closed my lid, the display would turn off. When I open the lid again, the display instantly turned back on and I was able to use the laptop right away. So far so good.

Then I upgraded to the latest Omega driver. Close the lid, display turns off. No problems here. But when I open up the lid, the display turns on instantly, stays on for a second, then turns itself off for about 2 seconds -- keyboard and mouse don't respond in the meantime -- and then it stays on, ready for use.

I don't like that. Anybody know of a workaround? I'm not sure if it's caused by the Omega driver, but as this was the only thing I changed recently, it leads me to conclude it's the driver.

Haven't experienced it myself with the latest Omega. Try perhaps uninstalling and cleaning, then give it another whirly bird. Could be another bug though, they pop up from driver to driver and are rather intermittant (some lappy's affected, others not).

Will give it a try sometime this week. Thanks. I just wanted to confirm if the issue I have was normal.

Same problem here

I have the same problem and I just did a format and the Omega 2.5.58 drivers were the only video drivers I have installed. So it I don't think it is an issue of reinstallation, i think it is a bug in the drivers. Just my two cents.

Just had a thought

After looking at you signature I was wondering if it could be the Toshiba LCD ???

I think it's a driver issue since it only started it since I upgraded to the newest driver :P

Oh, the other change I made was going from 1.3GB to 384MB to 2GB of RAM...
