max battery life

i have read that wireless often drains the battery faster. you are getting close to 3 hours. i bet if you turn of the wireless you would get three. your also supposed to condition your battery by draining it i think once a week. this improves battery life.

i get 4.5-5 hours with wifi on and general use

try portable/laptop settings

check ur cpu sped... is it running full blast? use mobile meter

That's on ni-cad's only.

but aren't you still supposed to condition it?

Ricewind What program do you use to benchmark your laptops battery life if any?

there have been many debates about conditioning li-ion batteries, from what i've found they have no memory and battery life shouldn't be affected drastically, but it's best to condition it (completely run-down, then completely recharge without using it) once every 30 cycles

I don't think so. Most batteries won't hold a good charge after a year of use anyways in my past experiences. I guess you can condition it, but i've never heard it's helpful in maintaining a battery.

Well with li-ion's I agree with you, there is no need to condition it, and in fact I don't with my cell phone (I don't have my laptop yet so I haven't done anything with that), but I'm just going by what that review says. I probably won't condition my laptop either, but for those who seem to think they need to condition it, there's no need to go crazy and run it down every day and recharge it fully overnight like you have to with Ni-Cd's.

Yeah, yeah... you don't need to wait to recharge until it gets drained... at least on Li-Ion ones. This "every 30-cycle drain" is to "recalibrate the 'fuel gauge'"

;-). I saw a question like that, I think one week ago, and if I'm not wrong, Rincewind posted the link, right? Thanks for reminding us again, compujas...

yeah, i got it from another thread here, don't know who but from past experience it probably was rincewind, he posts religiously in every thread about CL56's, and I probably will too once I get mine but i just thought i'd recirculate the info when it applies
