LOL thats true

If you have to get it serviced, you return it to Sager, not PCT. And it was confirmed by Sager in previous threads that applying AS does not void the warranty. Search for it if you don't believe me.

that's what i thought, thanks pyro

anyone ever do it with their 4750? if it doesn't void the warrenty i'll be doing it for sure
post #85 of 100
But i have asked luke and he said it does void the warranty. Does it void the phillips warranty?
I'd imagine Phillips will not cover anything Sager considers invalid...

I have also asked to have them put as5 on my laptop themeselves but i don't think they would do it. I will ask again to make sure. They have 5 days to make my laptop rather than 3 since i want my laptop on next monday or tuesday.

if they do let me know i'd like to get that done too

I'm asking luke a second about this. I hope its a yes response. But most likely he will be mad at me for asking twice.

have a feeling its gonna be no..but really hoping its a yes...really hoping ...hint hint *COUGH YES COUGH* Luke????

Someone said applying arctic silver DIDN'T void the warranty and they had asked Sager directly! Could it be because we're talking about different chips? Maybe the AMD is more succeptable to damage, who knows. If Luke said it does, then he's probably right. I'm going off previous information on the threads. If I weren't so swamped with things to do, I'd search for it and post a link.

Well we will know tomorrow when luke answers my email.

Ok, it didn't take too long. I didn't find the one I was specifically looking for where the guy talked to Sager directly, but here's a few people who agree with me:

thArk
Ge|atinousFury
Psicho
Halciet
Gambate

Isn't procrastination wonderful?!

Well once i find out from luke i will let you know. I always wanted to use arctic silver. never have yet, but i have heard really good things about it. it should be easier than trying to paint the computer too. which i may still find a way to do.

Alright this is what luke told me. 'Well in all theory(this is in theory mind you) if you were to add as5 to your notebook and it didn't cause problems... your warranty isn't voided. The only way it voids your warranty is if the as5 can be determined as the cause of the equipment failure. Hope that helps.'

ah, so only if it fudges stuff up does it void your warranty. so, put it on properly and np.

actually if i can later upgrade my processor to the mobile 3700 (i think they are both 764 pin sockets) i will do that. Less heat, more battery life
post #98 of 100
indeed, that's not a bad idea. I'll do the same when it becomes worth the price.

on my P4, i as5'd it and then sent it in for repairs. they didn't say anything, and shipped it back to me with a "replaced thermalpad" (as it said on my invoice.) I can't suggest doing it, but it is really not difficult to apply, and not very likely to fudge it if you have any sense of reason and care for precious parts. lates!

well i have built computers before so i am used to handling delicate parts. but i think it still will be kind of tough to clean the cpu when its in the case without making a few mistakes.
