I will be going to college this year and be doing some gaming, mostly EA Sports titles and such, I was wondering which would be a better Buy?
The IBM is available at the college and servicable by them too. doesn't really need to be super mobile but i'd like to take with me to the library/ Student union etc. and last a while on batteries

any help appreciated,
Andrew

If you have to choose between these two ONLY, then go with the compaq as its got a dedicated video card, albeit an outdated one.
But if you are gonna do a lot for gaming and may be play more complicated games in the future, both arent any good. You should be looking for some that have more recent video cards like the ATI 9600 or 9700.

My friend was contemplating on getting a CL56 for $1299. The only reason I'd go w/ the IBM or Compaq for the better customer service. (though it doesn't quite have the 3 yr warranty)

would like to know what is the config you get for 1299 and where ?
