Hi, Thank you for your enquiry about Alienware Computers. The Aurora-64m should be available very soon, by the end of August or early September. At present the configuration will not include the MR9800. It will come with an integrated Radeon Mobility 9700. The Aurora-64m, like all AMD based systems at present, does not support PCI-X. We are releasing an 8 x DVD +/- RW for mobile systems within the coming weeks and the Aurora-64m will most likely include this shortly after launch. Above is all the information I know for certain at present. However, I assure you Alienware will carry the MR9800 very soon as it is the top spec Video Card available on the market and Alienware prides itself on offering the top spec products to our customers. Unfortunately, at present, there is no solid information on possible launch dates so it is difficult to give you a timeframe but it will happen soon. I hope I have answered your queries and if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us. Most of the info above is probably nothing new (i haven't read all the posts in this thread ) but i hope it helpsif it does come down to a 64 bit processor with an integrated ati 9700 or a P4 with an mr9800 i know what side of the line i stand on whats everybody else's thoughts on this? 64bit with 9700 or P4 with mr9800? ps: i heard people expressing their fears that the aurora 64 bit would not have the ability to upgrade the graphics card. above the guy typed integrated. maybe that answers the question ... |
I'm sorry to see that Alienware does not know the difference between PCI-X and PCI-E(xpress). I'm similarly disappointed to see that the mr9800 is not part of a "new" high performance system... Of course, I *might* rather have the as-yet-unavailable go6800 (go6600?).

) but i hope it helps
