The Aurora-m has been delayed until Q1 of 2005, the ALX X2 will be out before this laptop sees the light of day.

PS I saw the Aurora-m beta @ Quakecon it was NICE, but they want TRUE upgradable graphics in this laptop which PCI-express will enable, they are delaying it in the best interest of the customer.

Q1 2005
that's a long period ahead.
I want a latop for university and it starts in october!
I don't know if i can wait.
Is a another company offering a latop with a athlon 64 cpu and a mr 9800 vpu?
Is there any other laptop maker even offering the 9800, apart from Dell, now anyway??

I got my laptop now, and with luck we'll see an upgrade come around either a 6800go or mr9800, if not, no biggy.

6800 is pci-express
mxm technology of nvidia.
It's going to be a hell of a mobile graphic card i guess.
but it's available around xmas, a long time to go.

re: the Aurora-64m

I tried the links posted- but since they were removed- I did a little searching- in the FAQ - I found this one posting (at the Ailenware site):

Thank you for your inquiry.

Due to the launch of PCI-Express, Alienware has chosen not to bring the Aurora-64m to market at this time. Instead, we are working on a PCI-Express-based AMD-powered notebook which promises significant performance advantages over the current version. Look for the new notebook in the first few months of 2005.

Thank you for your inquiry,

The Alienware Technical Support Team

any thoughts?

I just emailed them to see if I could get an update.

Concerning your question, indeed we have it as an upcoming product. We took the liberty to add you to our list of priority customers and you will be notified by email as soon as this new line of AMD-64 based mobile systems is made available.

Of course, Alienware constantly looks into offering the latest perks offered in the computer technology field, especially in improving the efficiency of systems currently offered.

However, we unfortunately have no definite information just yet regarding the approximate time frame for the future availability of the AMD-64 based mobile systems, other than the fact that it is currently in research and development.

Like any other Alienware system offered, these new systems go through an extensive testing process for quality control, compatibility, and optimum high level gaming system performance. Please rest assured that as soon as it is available, it will be on our website.

Thus, we recommend that you check on our website every now and then for the latest and most recent updates!

Unfortunately they give even less info now.

Perhaps I missed it!

I have looked high and low on alienware's homepage and yes, I even clicked on the link; however, I have yet to see an Alienware Aurora m64 Notebook. Yes, the AMD 64 is fitted to a desktop unit but I do not see anything referencing a notebook with a AMD 64 chip.
