This thing does look alittle ugly, and I noticed it said nothing about upgradable graphics. Why would you pick that over a 51m that has upgradable graphics?
Even if they are not Upgradeale at least they are self replaceable i don't see why alienware went with a different cahasis all together. I do remember seeing a working alienware AMD laptop a while back at some trade show and it was the original chasie. I like alienware dont get me wrong but without all the features of the Area1 the price better be lower!

1) Newer / "Keeping up with the Joneses"
2) 64 bit processing
3) Faster LCD refresh rate

First off, this new chassis is ugly. Brain, I remember them showing off an AMD64 with the uniwill chassis at E3...Did anyone notice that they were detailing AGP on the info page...what happened to PCI-e??? Why are they going with a mobile AMD64 anyway. The mobile version can't possibly compete with the desktop Intel line? If this is the trend that they are going with switching the chassis' then so much for a mobo upgrade!!!

PS: Did I also mention...can I just get a 9700???

hmmmm....so its either buy an Area-51m now, or wait for the Aurora-64m. How much difference will it make in gaming?

Yes, this was what I was talking about: SILVER rubber grips, not dumb black ones. Of course, this was only for advertising purposes before the black colored chassis was actually released.

Alienware just Photoshopped the Silver Sentia picture to reverse the colors except for the little bit of yellow on the side.

Well, I guess Alienware has designed a particular 'rubber grip style' and will stick with it; remember the silver touchpad on the old Sentia?

He must be new

Welcome aboard don...hang around and meet the animals. they don't bite...hard!

I dunno but doesn't the chassis remind you of an IBM ThinkPad?

Correct me if i am mistaken, but i have been following the Aurora-m for a while, and i remember that they ultimately ditched the SIS chipset for use with the AMD64...I think that that was the only option presented from uniwill so they had to look for another mobo from another odm.

Two things to notice

A) Aurora-m
1) The AMD chipset was never meant to be introduced with pci-x enabled mobo's.
From what I have gathered, pci-x is (for now) intel based only

B) Pci-x
1) Has anyone noticed that AW no longer has the 16 inch screen for their area
51m????
2) Also, the 15.4 inch Cyborg green is in limited quantity. Most of you would
probably think (as should I) that there is just a slow down in the supply of
options. If I jump the "ledge", you could almost say that this is a sign that they
are slowing down there production of this model, and ramping up for something
new....possibly pci-x based 51m's. What do you guys think about this???

Alienware's product availability changes from time to time, so it's hard to speculate if this is the current reason.

whatever happens, im waiting for pci-e with either intel or amd and user upgradeable graphics. Thats the ultimate improvement. I dont care if its AMD mobile or AMD DTR or Intel DTR or Intel Mobile, I just want PCI-e , because quite frankly, while some processors have obvious advantages, overall, for playing games (which is what i do mainly) the gpu is most important! Just my 2 cents.

All I hope for is some option of upgrading to PCI-express within my existing A51m766. Motherboard upgrade would be nice... we will have to wait and see.
I don't know about Alienware offering motherboard upgrades on their notebook products. I know Voodoo and I think Sager does. Has anyone had the procedure done that could provide some insight.
Hey...

I just thought of something...Because the Aurora-m has a whole new motherboard and odm;

Do you think we can finally have Dual channel RAM?

Man I am praying for a motherboard upgrade from the mothership; the switch to pci-e is going so fast that no one could have predicted it, but a motherboard upgrade sure would wipe away my tears.

Nice catch...that gives me a little more faith in the quality of the laptop...All the Epson products I ever used were crap.

Doesn't change the butt-uglitude

On the other hand, I'll be buying a Compal CL56 shortly, so not all Compal notebooks are butt-ugly
