wait till the MXM modular from Nvida
that is garranty upgradability plus it is a PCI express
post #82 of 192
I for one am waiting with bated breath for the Aurora-m... tho I can barely stomach the markup for an Alienware sticker

If they don't release it soon tho, I'm getting the Sager 4750.
i don't know why you don't go with the sager. check out my doom 3 pics agentsim!
I did... but I would prefer a smaller machine if possible
post #85 of 192
I hear ya' on that one, agentsim. 17' is just too big for my tastes in laptops. Plus, the much-ballyhooed Sager price advantage seems to decrease greatly if one adds all the high-gloss paint options to make its looks competitive with Alienware/Voodoo/other "high-priced" sellers. Not that there isn't still a bit of savings, but it becomes small enough to make the decision to go for a more "passionate" machine understandable.
bah! I consider paint a waste of my precious $$$
post #87 of 192
From what I was surfing in the Sager forums I wasnt impressed...but here is an interesting question...is Sager's 30 day money back guarentee unconditional?
yes... I'm planning on purchasing one, and if I get any issues (dead-pixels etc...) then I trade it in.
most places you have to pay for shipping back tho
post #89 of 192
so any updates on the release date... its been "coming soon" for 2 weeks :grr:
Frankly, I'd be surprised to see it available before September.

you are correct... I don't think there are any mobile PCI-E chipsets for AMD64 machines yet.

Look for PCI Express late in the 4th quarter, but until then we may not see anything beyond the 9700...and then again we may. In this business you just don't know until it is released.
Looks like the Aurora-m is stricken from my list of potential buys...

Crud! I might actually be willing to buy the Aurora from Alienware now but the glowing Alien eyes and silly rubber grips get's on my nevres. I wish alienware would take on a more professional look than a pure gamer only image.
I'd buy the Alienware if I had some small nation states to pay them off with... unfortunately I'm all out ATM

Cyberpower PC

Cyberpower PC has these out NOW at probably half the price alienware is going to charge. Looks like a similar chassis as well.
Not the same laptop.
the Cyberpower is a Uniwill.
Widescreen, only XGA... gets really hot.

Time is of the Essence

When the hell is this laptop coming out! Alienware sales are the most ambiguous idiots around! I am on the verge of purchasing the Acer Ferrari 3200 as the only truly portable AMD64 solution available currently. However if the Aurora comes out soon and is portable (which it seems to be) then I'll almost definitely get it. Does anybody have a clue as to when it is being released, and, or any more information about the laptop?
No on knows...buy the Ferrari if you can't wait.
