Acer 2012 noise?

I just got a new Acer 2012 wlmi today, and am enjoying in, but noticed a screechy type of noise coming from somewhere within...and I'm not talking about the fan. I was wondering if anyone else who has the same comp. experience's the same noise? I think after about an hour or so the noise goes away, but in the midst of the hour where the noise occurs, it started to drive me a little crazy...Anyone else with the same nuisance?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, the only "screechy" type of sound that I can hear is related to the hard drive, it can only be heard in *very* quiet environments and does *not* go away after an hour.

Is this what you meant?

I was thinking it was the hard drive because my brother said he has a similar noise on his HP pavillion, but to be honest it's a noise I can't really discern and it does go awa after a bit of time. I dunno, maybe I'm just sensitive to that particlar noise, because the fan "hum" noise doesn't bother me. Oh well, oh quick question, and I hope you can answer this: the scroll button below the touchpad seems to have stopped working, and I dout I disabled it, anyway you know how to get it going again? Thanks.

Hmmm... that could be a tough one because that's never happened to me so far.

At a *guess* I would check the XP task manager to make sure that the two synaptics processes are running, I'm guessing they control the scroll button as well as the extra touchpad functions (like the edge scroll):

SynTPEnh.exe and SynTPLpr.exe

I hope that helps.
