[Sorry for my english guys, I'm not american]

Hi guys,

I have the GateWay M675CS, equiped with:

Intel Penitum 4 3.0 Ghz w/ HT
512 MB 400 Mhz (2x256 MB)
Toshiba 60 GB 5400 Rpm
Toshiba DVD-RW/CD-RW
ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB AGP 8X (With OmegaDrivers 2.5.51)
WideScreen 17.1' ( 1440x900 )
Lan 10/100/1000
WireLess G

In Far Cry Game, when I press on video settings ("Auto Detect"), all the fieds are selected on "Low". Why ? If I select all in Very High or High, the game will are slow and impossible to play. What I need to can play fastest in Very High or High mode ? Buy more memory ? Or upgrade HD for one more fast ? ...

This note it will run HL2 ? ....

Thanks!

Dener, Far Cry will bring even the most poweful desktops to their knees, so don't plan on playing it at the maxed out settings. Play around with turning off AA and AF and other settings. You should be able to get the game to run reasonably well.

Keep in mind that you're running it on a notebook... a powerful notebook, but it's not as powerful as a highend desktop.

OK, but the "AutoDetect" said all "Low"

Why not "Medium"? ...

What is the best for up the performance, buy 1 GB or HD 7200 rpm ? ... If I buy 1GB of memory it will run well (good) ? ...

Trade it for an A64

All jokes aside, the 1GB would likely give you better overall system performance. The 7200RPM mainly only comes in handy when loading things (i.e. loading your OS, apps, games, levels/textures inside games, etc.), but also can help with overall system performance since it will significantly speed up the swap file. There again, the more RAM you have, the less often you will be using the swap file. Round and round we go . For my personal needs, a 7200RPM drive makes more since. But, I do a lot of disk intensive things. With gaming being your primary concern, you may be better off with the 1GB RAM first.
