Nah! I had this thing running for 6 hours tonight to confirm all was good. Heat was not an issue. Read my last post.

I'm not one for pulling your leg. There's too much of that going on in these forums as it is.

Agreed. But i have heard prescotts run rather hot. Maybe its the higher clocked ones.

AW put a hold on $250 on my card. The hold will turn into a charge.

Come on, you guys are smarter than this.

That's what I figured you scheme was...but that won't work for me since i only have a 9600...they will just send me more of the same, or a 5700

Yea, I've read all the prescott articles myself. They all confirm what you say about heat.

I had to try it as I bought this CPU and a mobo at Frys last month for $100. Turns out the $$ wasnt a total waist. What the heck. A 2.4BO CPU for $65 aint half bad.

Perhaps you should try the 256 mod on your 9600. It seem to fly for the dude that did it.

by the way! if something happens to your dell do you think they will replace it with a new part? nope, they use refubrished products too!

Alienware is better features than Dell, Dell is easier though

Sell them for like 325.00 + shipping
Yea right. I can hear 'em now.

Sorry Mr.Dude,

We've never gotten any of your def GPU's back.
Say so and you do not want the $250.00
What are you going to do if your 9700 really becomes defective? I assume you would have to put the 9600 back into your other lappy...

It'll still be under waranty...it can be "swapped" as many times as he wants...yes, I know that eventually screws the rest of us with higher prices, but that is how a warranty works...

Bull! I paid for this card.

Its invoiced at $152.00. Charged me $250.00

Its a win, win situation for them. It does nothing to raise prices.

Sorry. El wrongo!

I've given this alot of thought. It absolutely hurts no one. All it does is remove 1 9700 from their stock.

You say, thats not fair. I need a 9700. So...figure out a way to get one.

I'm no better than anyone else on these boards, or any forum.
I didn't say it wasn't fair, I wasn't complaining, I'd do the same thing. I was simply explaining to Psycho that a warranty allows you to swap the part as many times as it becomes "defective," because he asked what would happen if you card acutally died...don't yell at me, I don't give a **** enough to be yelled at.

And the lovely protection program... ground shipping to get there (5 days) + 12 business days in depot (posted on their site and 12 if your lucky) with 2 day return = 4 weeks without lappy. Don't forget the 4 week killer, "We're waiting for the part to come in..."

Oh My god...
You could just send in the video card for replacement instead of the entire system. Overnighting the card via USPS would be cheaper than sending the entire system ground.

I sent in the video card by itself. Not the system.

If my post was taken as yelling at you, I do apologise. No malcontent here.

However, I was rubbed the wrong way by saying that we all pay for that.

I'm over it, hope you are too. We're all friends here.

Now, what was this thread about?
