Ferrari 3200 NTFS format

Thread Starter
Hi! I got my ferrari last friday and it is very impressive.
But I have a question on its hard disk format.
Would I be able to use the provided recovery cds to do a clean install and set it to NTFS at that same time? I tried to reformat the laptop with the recovery cds provided, but it didnt allow to option to set the hard disk NTFS.
Could anyone tell me if it is possible to clean install windows with ntfs format with the acer recovery cds?

Thanks alot

I don't know if you can use the recovery CDs to do a clean install with NTFS, but you can always convert the filesystem afterwards:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...en-us%3B307881

E.g. Open a command promt and type:
convert c: /fs:ntfs

Or you can just reinstall using a regular Windows XP CD like me and use the provided product key on the back of the computer

I do not have a clue as to why Acer didn't use NTFS with the factory install. NTFS is clearly a better file system then FAT32 for technical reasons such as preventing file corruption thanks to journaling.

Does Acer use FAT32 by default on all their notebooks with XP? Or did someone in the QA process of making an image botch up?
