This tells me that we will more than likely see GPU upgrades for AW 51M laptops (766).
WOW. If i could read one word of that, I might comment on it - but that is the worst writing I have ever seen. lol

The guy is probably a foreignor doing the best he can with English. At least I hope thats the case.

Anyways, the link tells all.

One thing to keep in mind... A51m does not use a mobile chipset or processor, it uses desktop. We are not waiting for a Centrino replacement. IMO, the waiting time is going to be for ATI & NVidia to supply a PCI-E go GPU... and that, my friends, 'hopefully' will be within 2004.

NAdaV... you will be doing all of us a favor by purchasing the Sager or Apple. I'm sure the Sager forum could benefit from all of your research and knowledge .

Psycho, I got a question.

Does the new pci-x board support the current pentium 4 socket? I thought I read somewhere that the pins are now on the board rather than the chip. I hope you're right though....this news is very very bad. I need a laptop by January, since I will be traveling to Austria. If AW doesn't come up with one by then, I might bootleg one to take with me, get one while I'm overseas, or have to wait when I'm back in the States next June....(Le sigh......)

Maybe I should clarify my question.

Are manufacturers currently making notebook pci-x mobo's that will use the desktop 4 processor, or are they going to stictly use the delayed intel chip?
Good question... IMO, if the technology currently exists for desktops (PCI-express on P4 Motherboards) then they will make it into a mobile motherboard. The delay by Intel would most likely push it to happen.

Yeah the new intel chipsets use socket 775 processors where the pins are on the motherboard. These chipsets also use DDR2 memory and PCI Express which is different from PCI-X (thats for SCSI cards, etc.) Supposedly, there will eventually be motherboards that combine old and new technologies so that the consumer does not have to upgrade everything at once. This is kind of like the cheap P4 boards that support SDRAM and DDR.

Poor poor psycho, 4 posts and you still cant make a point. Noone cares what your oppinion is esecially when its wrong. I gunna have fun linking your predictions into every thread I visit so everyone can lol like I am. DTR pcie based laptops (or even P-m versions) are much further off, heck they just barely came out w/ pcie in desktops and they havnt even worked out some of the kinks from these new products, so you can hope for a pcie based laptop by christmas but it aint gunna happen. You must have a tuff life needing to call people names when they tell you your wrong. And based on your wildly unfounded, unsubstatiated oppinion of pcie based laptop arrival, it appears your wrong alot.

Do you have a private extension on Ms. Cleo's Phychic line, oh wait its psycho...... Ok riddle me this: is PS3 and Xbox2 gunna make it by chritmas 04 along with pcie laptops or is that part of your magical crystal ball a litlle fuzzy, maybe u should replace the batteries.

Archalien, I sense some childish comebacks in that last thread.

As for your very last unnecessary comment about xbox2 and ps3, those aren't slated to be out by Christmas (any hobo off the street could tell ya that). But what IS slated for release by Q3/Q4 of 2004 is pci-x in laptops. As long as the new pci-x boards support the current 775 socket, I see no reason why this announcement by Intel would delay the arrival of pci-express in 51m laptops (IF IF IF they stick to the current Intel P4s)
