I had the same problem with getting things to fit in it. The bag really is bigger and heavier than just about any other bag around, but it doesn't actually hold much. That front pocket with the zipper down the middle is deceptively big. Tell your friend to see how much he can cram in there. That's where most of the storage space really is. But if you need more room, go for the Targus Matrix.
