i found this setup on ebay but was wondering if i can get it anywhere else?

It's really weird. How does one convert Y/C S-Video to composite video with just a wire? You can find high quality 1/8inch TRS jack to stereo RCA cables very easily, but I don't know if you can find a 4-pin S-Video to composite cable.

can someone please point me in the direction to hook up my notebook to the tv? i am new to notebooks and would like to watch dvd's on the tv with sound.........thanks

That auction on ebay seems like it would be the cheapest cable you could find. You might check somewhere like a best buy, circuit city, or radio shack, but my guess is that they would be just as expensive if not more. However, that should work to convert it, just plug your s-video out up and your audio-out, have them go straight into the RCA and it should work.
