Radeon Mobility 9600

Thread Starter
I noticed that a few of the new Sager's have Radeon Mobilty 9600s in them. I have two questions: Will the Mobility 9600 fit inside of an Area-51m, and is it possible to buy the card separately from any vendor yet?

No Sager has a 9600 yet or any other laptop company for that matter. No you wont be able to put it an area 51 and no vendor's will sell them seperate. Its an intergrated componet you would need to swap the whole motherboard to get the 9600.

Then what is the new 128MB card in the laptops?

hmmm...

its the 128MB version of the M9 (Radeon 9000) that you see in the 8887, 5670 and (maybe) the Alienware Area 51-m (I havent looked at their website but maybe they have it as well).

For sure you can get the M10 somewhere on e-bay a few hours after it is released

once my warranty is finished I am gonna play with this laptop of mine while I wait for the 5880, or whatever its gonna be called, to be released.

The only laptop and I mean the only laptop that I know that can have the graphics card upgraded is Dell. The only way people can get the part for the dell laptop is to order it from dell. Sagers have their graphics solutions intergrated into the board or something close to it. That is why it takes a full motherboard swap to uprgrade it. The 9600 is suppose to come with a new technology that allows it to be upgraded, but it is not here yet.

Dell being the only vendor with an upgradeable laptop graphic card? not entirely true, sager started an upgrade path, for example, i could have upgraded my 8886 to an 8887, which includes new screen and more video memory, probably more clock timming on the card, looking it apart from the fact the with the dell you only upgraded the card, it almost the same.

Now, until we see if the flex fit technology becomes a reality with the m10, we cannot be sure it will be upgraded or not, depends on the package the manufacturer choses, and depending on this, the success flefit may get in the market (as always, if flexfit is not being widely used, it will die)

If there is something that needs to be clarified, i will gladly do it

Could you have upgraded only the video card? I doubt it. I'm not talking about the whole motherboard upgrade that is offered by sager.

I said so...

soundz

soundz to me like you have an alienware box my friend. Currently, sager was the only one to offer upgrade stuff, so, with your alienware lappy, youre stuck like chuck.

actually i read somewhere in a maximumpc that alienware will upgrade their laptops provided that the user pays for all the parts and then the labor is free

believe me i know that even though i've only been here for a short while, i just wanted to provide the info to those who still haven't seen the advantages of a sager

difference between m10 and m10pro

I've decided to wait for the new m10 to come out for Sagers. Hopefully, they will be compatible with the 5670, and a new 5680 will be born (Fingers crossed). I saw some people talking about the m10 on another thread as well as the m10pro, but I couldn't find, or rather, understand the difference between the two. Can anyone help me? By how much are the release dates expected to differ if any?

By the way, these forums have me excited about my future purchase, thanks for all the help. It sounds as if I have found a superior product.

Thanks,
Future Sager Owner

I have also decided to wait till the Mobility Radeon 9600pro has become avalable till I purchase my laptop. I hope it comes out befor Augest though, cuz I donot think I could wait any longer than that.

Dose anyone have any idea when it is to be released, and if it will be avalable on the 888X series of laptops?

Here is a site that more or less explaines the diffrences of the pro and normal version.
